The information listed above is not the complete record of the ship. The information was collected from a multitude of sources, and new information will be added as it emerges

The brig Bjørgvin was built in 1849, and was owned by Lorentz Nicolaysen and others of Bergen. She had a burden of 106 Commercial lasts. She was flying flag no. X-91. The Bjørgvin did a number of transatlantic crossing with Norwegian emigrants. In 1849 she departed from Bergen about May 12 and arrived at New York on July 6 carrying 110 passengers. In 1850 she arrived New York with 128 passengers, in 1851 with 136 passengers and in 1852 with 149 passengers. The next, and last voyage with emigrants was in 1857. She departed Bergen Apr. 29, and this time headed for Quebec where she arrived on June 6. Unfortunately, Canada (NAC) did not begin archiving passenger lists until 1865 for the port of Quebec, so there are no arrival record for this last voyage in any of those archives. Timeline to records. Master on all of the mentioned voyages was Capt. Gunder Peder Olsen. The Bjørgvin was wrecked in 1891, she was then owned by N. M. Bugge.
