I have been helping a relative research his family from the Jelsa parish records. I have found the births of Baard Nilsen's and his wife Martha Thormodsatter in the parish records along with Baard and Martha's marriage record. The person I am helping had a few questions that I don't know the answers to:
A family tree on the family lists Baard Nilsens name as Baard Nilsen Bandura. The question I have is Bandura a farm name. In the 1865 Census Baar is listed with his wife and the name of the Domicle is Bandeberguren. Possible that is what the person meant with the Bandura?
Baard's wife Martha died in 1902 and I have found her death in the Jelsa parish records. The person I am helping was wondering if there is any way he could find where she is buried? Either through a e-mail address in Norway or a phone nbumber in Norway.
The children that immigrated from Norway went by the last name of Alveshire and Alveshire. In the 1875 Census from Jelsa they were living on the domicle Skiftevig, Alveskjaer. So I know why they went by the name Alveshere in the United States. The person I am helping was wondering if there is any information on the farm Alveskjaer.
After Baard's wife died he came to North Dakota to live with one of his sons so Baard is buried in North Dakota. Martha would be buried in the Jelsa area so that is why he was wondering where he could find information where she is buried.
A question I have is with my lack of knowledge on the Jelsa area is that the area of Ombo that is a island? Any help would be great. Thank You

A couple things might play into an American version of a farm name, phonetics, ease of spelling and pronouncing and excising the indigestible bits.

There is a farm in Jelsa called Banduren in the 1865 census online at the Digitalarkivet.

Bandurda is a farm on the Ombo island, under the main farm Bandaberg.

Jelsa is a former municipality in Rogaland county.
In 1965 there was a merge of municipalities, and most of Jelsa was merged into the new municipality called Suldal.
The island Ombo was divided between Hjelmeland and Finnøy municipalities.

If you found Martha in the Jelsa parish churchbook, she should be buried at Jelsa church. I doubt her grave from 1902 still exist, but you could try to contact the Suldal consistory.

Jelsa church, build 1647. Located in Suldal municipality, Rogaland.

This same family is currently being actively sought on another message forum online. The person posting the questions is calling himself William Alveshire and he is being given the same information that you say you already found.
