My great-grandfather was Anton Eriksen, born Dec. 1st 1858, son of Erik Jensen. Their family farm was in Skeberg (Ostfold).
I have the 1865 census listing - Anton was 7. His father, Erik Jensen was 49. How can I find out more about them? Can someone help point me to other sources?

Thanks!
Alice Eriksen

You can rent the microfilms from a local Family History Center:

This is a good dictionary for translating the old records:

Here is, I guess, the couple in the 1801 Cenus:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f10115&gardpostnr=132&personpostnr=2575&merk=2575#ovre

This all relates to Anton Eriksen father, Erik Jensen.

I can not find Erik Jensens parents married in Skjeberg parish. This could mean that one of them were from outside of the parish.

I hope this is helpful?

REMEMEBER!
The parishrecords COULD be wrong, and I can have included people who does not belong to this family.

If there are words or phrases that you find difficult, I could try and explain them for you. Just ask!

Skjeberg has a "Historielag" and has the following webadress:
http://www.skjeberg.net/

If you press "Styret" and mail the "Formann (Leader)" maybe they could help you further?

Dear Alice. In search for my Family in the US I just found this old topic posted by you back in 2006 . My great-grandmother was Anton Eriksen's sister, which means we are related. I could probably help to Complete the Picture of Your Norwegian Family, and you could certainly help me to find out more about my american Family. Could you please contact me on e-mail truls.kjolberg@vikenfiber.no
