I believe this might be Lauritz birth record....#4, born Laurius Johan Pauli on 9 Feb 1846 to Hans Nil Johannesen and Christiana.

I have found quite a few christiane's in my family that changed or "americanized" (in my case) their names to christine! Definitely not uncommon!

I am unsure about that birth record for Lauritz, tho, because in the 1900 census it shows birth year as 1849, but in the 1865 census it was 1847. Investigation needed!

Hi,
now as Tami has done all the investigations I can come up with some info. from the 1875 census from Buksnes.

Lauritz live as a renter and fisher-man at his brother Hans recidence on Skotnes, married to Karen/Luffa Olsdatter, and one year old Emil:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=19&filnamn=f71860&gardpostnr=47&personpostnr=331&merk=331#ovre

His mother widow Christiane Jørgensdatter work as a housekeeper and live on one of the Skotnes farms owned by Ole Berg Hansen.
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=27&filnamn=f71860&gardpostnr=84&personpostnr=63&merk=63#ovre

Brother Haagen live on another Skotnes farm (one og 17 farms nemed Skotnes), married to Adriane Larsdatter and 4 children from 2-10 years old

Brother Frantz live on another Skotnes farm in the southern area, married to Anna Hofstad from Tjøtta municipality in the southern part of Nordland county

The Viking King Tore Hjort (Halvdansson) in Northern Norway who participated in the famous battle at Hjørungavåg against the Danes 986 was likely from Borg on Vestvågøy.
