Johannes is my great grandfather. I guess I hadn't look as this record close enough before. I was told his brother in New sponsored him to come to America. I suspected it was Anton.

A Anna Antonsdt travel with my great grandmother Karen to America so thought she had to be his daughter. However, I could find no record of him marrying or coming to America or any record of the being in America

I speculated that this might be her. Her maiden name is Olsen.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KQ5L-VNJ

But research has made me question that.

At least I know it was Anton.

Thank you all so much. I can wait check out resources for farm locations

I greatly appreciate it.

The handwriting in the passenger list is a little fraught. It is not Leidskogen but Eidskogen, it is not New York but N.Dak. for North Dakota. Here is a possible for Anton in FAG:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/14681119

A possible family in 1891 census:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01052732001520

Anton in the possible 1891 family #66 birthdate 12 June 1882:
SAH, Eidskog prestekontor, Parish register (official) no. 3, 1879-1892, p. 49

I noticed that when the first daughter Annette Karoline of Johannes and Karen was born that he used the name Johannes Olsen Duelien and the column for birth place lists Duelien under Pramhus. Annette was born in 1903 and baptized in 1904.

#4

Same address for second child Kristian.

#19

Same for son Iver Alfred

#20

For their marriage June 7, 1903, he is listed as a Husmann from Eidskogen and she is listed as from Gjermshusberget, Brandvold

The birth date on census record is 1867. Could it be this one?

There is a gap between Anton Olsens birth and Anton Olsen Bakke there is a discrepancy between Anna Olsen (Nelson) and Anna Olsen Bakke. But I can't help but wonder if they are same people. Any opinions or thoughts of alternative or info that corroborates etc. Appreciate your help.

I can't find a marriage record for Anna thought that might have a father's name

Well you search is a little confusing so perhaps I should start with some information on the one known person, Johannes Olsen. I assume that this is his baptism record.

Johannes Olsen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Johannes Olsen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 17 nov 1874
Baptism Date: 7 mar 1875
Baptism Place: Brandvold, Hedmark, Norway
Father: Ole Andersen
Mother: Karen Johannesdr
FHL Film Number: 307244
Reference ID: 2:ZKF02T

#15

It would appear that Ole Andersen was a widower but not yet married to Karen Johnanesdatter at the baptism of son Johannes.

Ole and Karen married in Nov of 1875

Ole Andersen
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Ole Andersen
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Birth Date: 1841
Marriage Date: 7 nov 1875
Marriage Place: Brandvold, Hedmark, Norway
Father: Anders Johansen
Spouse: Karen Johannesdr
FHL Film Number: 307244
Reference ID:

If I am following the family corrrectly, Johanes and Anton would be step siblings with a different mother

Anton Olsen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Anton Olsen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 25 jul 1866
Baptism Date: 23 des 1866 (23 Dec 1866)
Baptism Place: Brandvold, Hedmark, Norway
Father: Ole Andersen
Mother: Eli Olsdr
FHL Film Number: 307244
Reference ID: 2:ZKCZDC

#109

Ole Andersen and Eli Olsdatter were not yet married for the 1865 Census but both were living on Bukkebakken. That may be the origin of the Bakken name.

1865

Here is the confirmation record for Anton Olsen Bukkebakken

One of the questions you had was on this Anton Olsen Bakke and his marriage in Oslo.

Anton Olsen Bakke
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Anton Olsen Bakke
Gender: Male
Marital Status: Married
Age: 30
Birth Date: 1861
Marriage Date: 30 aug 1891
Marriage Place: Oslo, Oslo, Norway
Father: Ole Qistensen
Spouse: Maren Kristiansen
FHL Film Number: 1282971
Reference ID: bk 1

And his daughter as a possible match for Anna Olsen Nelson.
Name: Anna Marie Olsen Bakker
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 30 jul 1892
Baptism Date: 28 aug 1892
Baptism Place: Oslo, Oslo, Norway
Father: Anton Olsen Bakker
Mother: Maren Kristiansen

However after looking at his original marriage record I do not think that this Anton Olsen Bakke is a match for Anton Olsen the brother of Johannes Olsen.

Here is a link to the original record for the marriage.

#39

This indicates that this Anton Olsen was born abt 1861 in Øier (Øyer) a parish in Oppland so probably not the Anton you are looking for.

The marriage record shows his confirmation record is on April 30, 1876. So this is likely him, born June 2, 1861. Father is Ole Østensen.

Here is the emigration record for the Anna Antonsdatter

Link

The whole group on one page

Link

This Anna Antonsen from the 1900 Norwegian Census fits with the emigration record

1900

Also the farm that she is living on is named Gjermshusberget the same farm name that is connected with Karen Andreasdatter wife of Johannes Olsen in the marriage record for those two. So maybe she is a relative of Karen and not of Johannes

So this is the baptism record for Karen

Name: Karen Olsen (should be Andreasen)
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 8 okt 1875 (8 Oct 1875)
Baptism Date: 21 nov 1875
Baptism Place: , , Hedmark, NorwayVinger
Father: Andreas Olsen
Mother: Anne Arnesdr
FHL Film Number: 1282607

Her mother Anne Arnesdatter is the grandmother of Anna according to the 1900 Census.

That makes much more sense. I wonder what happened to Anton Olsen born 1867? Well I am sure you are right. Anna L Olsen born 1892 matches DNA Karen's lines but I could not figure out how she was Antonsdatter. Thank you so much I appreciate it.

Oh wait she wouldn't be Olsen. Maybe it's a coincidence about similar birth date. Maybe she is related some other way.

Thank you again.
