Who told you or how did you come to understand that Anton Olson Bakken was in New York? If you were informed by someone perhaps the passenger list has been misunderstood because of the writing. My assumption is that Johannes Olsen Duelien is your ancestor. It's possible that that is incorrect as well.

Where did Johannes actually end up in US? Anton is right, we need to begin at the beginning on Johannes. I am a little suspicious that there is something faulty in the very beginning of your information on Johannes.

As for Anton Olson Bakken in North Dakota here is his entry in the North Dakota Public Death Index:
BAKKEN, ANTON 11/06/1951 Rolette MALE 69 Years 01/15/1882 North Dakota Rolette

Karen herself (as Karen Duelien) was headed to the North Dakota in 1908:

[Yes that is the one I think is Anton. I found a couple trees. They have him born in Kongvinger and variations of birth dates. Some have him born in 1866 others 1867 most complete tree has same birth date.I had one relative say the person who sponsored Johannes lived in New York and another say we have family in North Dakota. Perhaps Anton lived in New York when he sponsored him and they traveled together to North Dakota after he arrived?

As far as Anna Antonsdatter, I feel fairly comfortable that she is the one born May 6, 1893 in Vinger parents are Anton Hansen and Andrea Andreasdatter. Why she ended up using the name Anna Olsen only she knows for sure but it may be explained by the circumstances of her travel. She left Norway known as Anna Antonsdatter based on the confirmation record and the emigration record. However she was only 16 and traveling with her aunt Karen Andreasdatter Dueliein and her three children. In America the first know record for Karen and children is under the name Olsen as shown by the 1910 Census record posted by Jackie. Perhaps Anna when she first arrived in America in 1908 found it easier to adopt the last name of the family she had arrived with ie Olsen.

As far as Anton Olsen, you seem to be searching for the Anton Olsen born July 25, 1866 to Ole Andersen and Eli Olsdatter and who is a half-brother to Johannes Olsen Duelein. In this case I think we need to go back to square one again. The latest record for him that I feel comfortable with is his confirmation in 1881 as Anton Olsen Bukkebakken. I have not seen an immigration record for him that I feel comfortable with. Do you even know that he left Norway?

Anton Olson's, Anton O. Bakken's children are all born in North Dakota. So from at least 1895 he'd be expected to live in North Dakota.

Here he is in 1900 census:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M9V5-V3D

There are a number of Anton Bakken who filed to become citizens in North Dakota:
Bakken Anton Norway 1st November 11, 1905 Ward D-11 101
Bakken Anton Norway 1st May 23, 1918 Burke D-3 073
Bakken Anton Norway 2nd September 27, 1923 Burke P-8 093
Bakken Anton O Norway 1st January 30, 1901 Bottineau D-2 245
Bakken Anton O Norway 1st March 25, 1895 Steele D-1 165
Bakken Anton O Norway 2nd June 13, 1899 Steele F-7 321

A.O. Bakken #2521 heading to Cooperstown, Dak through Canada on the Sarnia April 1890.

Huh? Well maybe my relative thought the brother lived in New York because Johannes arrived in New york? I am not sure I am going to get a closer match findagrave Birth date matches and Kongvinger is close to Brandval. It could be a miscommunication or a case of using a more known city for simplicity? I contacted someone who I hope is a descendants hopefully they can she'd some light if their contact info is current. Hopefully it is him. Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate you help.

Alright Jackie good searching and posting. Here is the emigration record for a Anton O Bakken leaving Norway April 14, 1890. Going to Coopertown which I assume is the one in New York. Age 23 which puts his birth year at 1867. And Cooperstown ND

I like the Anton O Bakken that Jackie found arriving through Canada. What I am less fond of is the number of Anton Olsens found living in that part of northern New York state. Here is one that pops up in several census searches.

The one that Volsen posted a FAG record for above is one. There is one married to a Ingeborg Marie Nilsen with somewhat confusing data but seems to be living in Erie County in the 1900 Census as well as the 1910 and 1920 Census and the 1925 New York Census as well. I will post some of the data for him.

Here in a marriage record for one of his children giving the name of his wife.

Anton Olsen
in the New York, County Marriage Records, 1847-1849, 1907-1936
Name: Anton Olsen
Gender: Male
Spouse: Ingeborg Marie Nilsen
Child: Florence I Olsen
Film Number: 000875659

Here is a likely candidate for him, which if correct would rule him out.

Anton Olsen
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Anton Olsen
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Birth Date: 1868
Marriage Date: 30 sep 1901
Marriage Place: Østre Slidre, Oppland, Norway
Father: Nils Martin Olsen
Spouse: Ingeborg Nilsen
FHL Film Number: 1282585
Reference ID: p213 #11

Here he is with his family in the 1900 US Census

1900

There are a ton of Norwegian Anton Olsons everywhere in North Dakota, too. You have to look at the image of A.O. Bakken's entry from Canada. It is clarified that it is Dakota!

So the point of all of this is to find Anne Antonsdatter who travelled with Karen and her children? What happened to her dad Anton Hansen?

I am not sure if he made it America. I never figured out why person I thought was Anna Antonsdt was named Anna 0lsen. So I guess technically we never found her unless because she traveled with my family and if her family never came to America she decided to take our name. Or it just a coincidence she is born the same month and day and Anna Antons is someone else. Anton Olsen Bakker would be Johannes brother and Anton Hansen would be his brother in law. Married to Karen's sister Andrea right? However, I think Anton Olsen Baller was the one who sponsored him and Anton Hans possibly never came to America it say she is a maid on position in family maybe she came a Nanny with no expect that her family would come and then she ...???? Married and stayed I assumed???

Well Anna Antonsdtter born May 6, 1893 was born out of wedlock so the parents may never have married. In the 1900 Norwegian Census Anna was living with her uncle Hans Andreasen and his wife Inga Olsen as well as her grandmother Anne Arnesdatter. They are living on Gjermshusberget which seems to appear in most records for the Andreasen family So both mother and father are missing from her life by this census.

Here is a potential for Andrea Andreasen mother of Anna in the 1900 Census living on Gjermshus. She is working as a Tjenestepige.

1900

The brother Hans Andreasen, wife Inga Sofie and son Osmund all ended up in Illinois.

Osmund Alfred Anderson
in the U.S. Naturalization Record Indexes, 1791-1992 (Indexed in World Archives Project)
Name: Osmund Alfred Anderson
Birth Date: 17 Jan 1901
Birth Place: Norway
Age at event: 22
Court District: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa
Year of Arrival: 1903
Date of Action: 21 Jun 1923
