You all were so helpful in assisting me with researching my history before, I was able to get back 38 generations on my paternal grandmothers mothers side, but now I am stuck with my paternal grandfathers side.

The farthest I can get back is to Amund Olson (b. 1832) and Mary Olson (b 1842). I know they were born in Norway and when they came ot the US based on the US census data I was able to find. I can't find Mary's birth last name. I believe when they came to the US and settled in MN or ND. They had one son, Ole Amundson in 1866 in Norway, prior to coming to the US. They had Oscar, Bertha, Caroline, Mary, Johane, Gladys, Amund, Fredrik, Gurina, Johannes, Anna and Anton after arriving in the US.

I have been searching and searching but I can't find any more records on Amund or his wife Mary prior to coming to the US, or any records of Mary or Anton's death in the US. I am interested in their parents names, Mary's birth name and their DOD. Any other information would be helpful as well.

Can anyone help with this one? Thank You!!

You say you found them in at least one US census. Which censuses? Where were they and when? What was the information you learned about when they came to the US?

As for when they came to the US, I found that Ole, their son who was born in 1866, came ot the US in 1867, so I trust that he came with his parents since they had more children here in the US. The information I found was in the 1875 and 1880 US Census, Tungsberg, Chippewa County Minnesota.

Do you know his occupation in the US? The Amund Olsen from Kvam in Nord-Fron, Oppland, is a shoemaker.

Based on the marriage record Amund Olsen came from Anderstuen and his father was Ole Hansen. The 1865 census should be changed accordingly to:
http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=7&filnamn=f60518&gardpostnr=429&personpostnr=2786&merk=2786#ovre.

Amund was born July 25 1832, see #59
Kildeinformasjon: Oppland fylke, Fron, Ministerialbok nr. 3 (1828-1838), Fødte og døpte 1832, side 62.
Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9257&idx_id=9257&uid=ny&idx_side=-67.
His parents Ole Hansen and Beret Friderichsdatter were then on Røssum.

I have always been told that I, too, am related to Roald Amundsen. My grandmother was Norwegian, and apparently her sister Bertha had a son called Axel who married Roald's niece. On a visit to Norway some years ago we tried to confirm this at Bergen Library. They were extremely helpful, and we deduced that the niece had to be the child of Roald's eldest brother, Antonius. They gave us photos of Ole, Gustava and Jens, and their four sons. Unfortunately Antonius was out of the country during the 1900 Census so they were not able to confirm the names of his children. Does anyone have any information on Antonius and his family?

Hi, I would recommend you to start a new topic about your relatives, this topic is about a man named Amund Olson.

To your question:
Children of Jens Ole Antonio (Tonni) Amundsen (1866 - 1926) & Emma Heffermehl, (1867-):
1. Jens Amundsen, b. 09 Sep 1892, Algerie , d. 10 Nov 1928, Bærum, Akershus, Norway
2. Emma Amundsen, b. 19 Apr 1895, Oslo, Norway
3. Johan Kristoffer Støren Amundsen, b. 12 Jan 1903, Hamar, Hedmark, Norway, d. 1928, Bergen, Hordaland, Norway
4. Roald Amundsen, b. 26 Jul 1911, Jæren, Rogaland, Norway, d. 1931

If your story is correct, the niece should be Emma then, born 19 Apr 1895. Here she is in Census-1910.

Hello,

I am now trying to get more information on Ole Amundson's (b.1866, son of Amund Olsen) wife, Mary (or Marie) Rosendahl. She has been quite the difficult individual to research on my end. What I know is that she was born around 1871 in Norway, came to the US around 1890, married Ole in 1891 and their first child was born in 1892, Johanna. They lived in Minnesota before moving to North Dakota. I can't find the names of Mary's parents so I am having a hard time researching her or this part of my family tree. Any idea on who her parents were?

Thanks!

A candidate may be, Marie G, emigrated 1890, see here.

Marie Gustavsdatter was born at Sandbakken, Østre Toten Nov 8 1870 and baptized Jan 1 1871, see 3rd record from bottom. Her parents were Gustav Andersen and Johanne Andersdatter.

The confirmation record is #16 she was then living at Rosendal and her father was dead.

Maries father and his parents in 1865.

Maries parents were married May 24 1870, see #21.
Gustav Andersen came from Kubberud, was 23 years old and his father was Anders Olsen.
Johanne Andersdatter came from Rognestadsveen, was 25 years old and her father was Anders Pedersen.

Gustav Andersen was born Sept 14 1847, see #196.
His parents were Anders Olsen and Maria Christiansdatter, Kubberud under Rognebye.

Johanne Andersdatter was born March 9 and baptized April 5 1847, see #50.
Her parents were Anders Pedersen and Siri Johansdatter, Rognstadsveen.

Have you found when Marie died or her listing in the 1900 census which should give a month and year of birth?

The Marie mentioned above in the leaving record is mentioned as being Svensk --Swedish.

Here they are in the 1900 census:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M9S9-HPQ

Marie's birthdate is Nov 1871
