I am looking for Marie Aasen, b. 24 Dec. 1884 in Nordre Ål, Fåberg, Oppland, Norway. She used the family name Blomshield in 1906 in a letter from the USA. She married Richard G. Sherman, b. circa 1883 in Sweden, and settled in Amherst, Hillsborough Co., NH. Her family name in Norway is also spelled Assen in the USA. Her brother Syver Aasen/Assen lived with her family for some time in Amherst. She had a sister, Oline Aasen, who also went to the USA. I would like to know more about her family in the USA as she is the sister of my maternal grandfarher.

Thank you. I found a lot of Blomsheilds, and also Marie Aasen and her marriage to Richard Sherman. So that helped me to confirm that she is the right person as her parents names match. Thank you for the links. This was a lot of help in just 5 minutes. I just got new information to start to find out more about her family.

Here is a candidate for Oline Smith. Only issue is she is listed as Oline S and not Oline P Smith and of course Oline P was born in 1917 which is a long time ago. . But it does list a Richard H Smith under Associated.

Perhaps the arrival of Oline Aasen. She lists her destination as Providence Rhode Island and her father as Olaus Aasen.

Thank you!!!!! This is fantastic!!! My mother talked a lot about her family, but when I was young I did not listen. When she died I promised her an myself to sort out and write down everything I could find out about her family. The two sisters and one brother of her father were just names, and that they had left for the USA. I have tried for some time to get some information about them, but nothing. And suddenly I find this forum, and I get a lot of information in one evening!!!! I am very, very thankful, and I appreciate your help a lot.
The other sisters name is Oline, and I guess that is why one of Marie's daughters was called Oline. I have been searching for the brother Syver Aasen, but now I see that his family name in the Census is Aaren. I have had a look at the family tree of Art Cohan, and I have sent him an e-mail. But no reply. Thanks for now. I will keep digging. 4 brothers of my maternal grandmother went to the USA, and I have a contact who is now receving all informations about his relatives in Norway.

Someone should look at the actual record because this may be just an erroneous transcription or typo...

I did and HeritageQuest has his name indexed as Aasen. The actual handwriting is A either an a or an s, sen.

I think Jackie is correct. His name is Syver Aasen in the census record. The transcriber has the spelling slightly wrong. Here is the record from Ancestry.com.
