Reg. Olia Larsdatter Freksbraaten born Jan. 31. 1855.
Same as for Erik Kvernbraaten, no info on her in Ådal after 1875.

Where does Tolina Mellum come from?
There are no Mellum farms in Årdal to my knowledge, but in;
- Melhus parish Sør-Trøndelag county
- Holt parish in Aust-Agder county
- Aasnes, Elverum, Aamot and Vaaler parish´s in Hedmark county.

Ok.
Then we can conclude:
Eric Christiansen Kvernbraaten born in Aadalen nov. 12. 1847 was the same as Eric C. Braaten in the US.

Off the record: Kvern is the same as a Grain mill.

Olia Larsdatter age 24 just under Erik's name on the migrating list is going to the same place as Erik....Here's a marriage from MOMS:

MOWER C181-2 11/28/1880
CHRISTIANSON, ERICK
LARSON, OLIA

Grand Meadow is in Mower county, Minnesota.

So Olia was the mother of a Clara born 1884--is this the same Clara who is your grandmother?

The children in the household in 1895 are all named Braaten and all born in Minnesota:
Caroline 14 b. Minn
Gelhard 12
Clara 12
John 9
Maria 7
Albert 7
Joseph 4
Emma 2

Yes, my gggrandmother is Clara! Her death certificate says "Olia" is her mother but I mistakenly assumed it was short for Tolina. This is good to know! Thank you.

It is.
Occ. Lumber jack in 1875 and Handelsbetjent/Salesman in 1900.
I am not sure if he married.
He died on Solbakken in Ådalen 1941.
