What information might there be in the Norwegian military records about Corporal Halvar Olsen, Akkerhougen. ...and where could I find the info? He was married in Lansverk, Telemark April 26 1793 to Liv Johanesdat.. His age at marriage about 28 years so born about 1765 ....and her age 17 years. I understand that military records have extensive information about the individual ??

Halvor Olsen was a crofter with land on a sub farm under Edingsaas 1801.
I assume he was a corporal when he married 1793.

What company and regiment he served in I will give you later today.

Under a previous post of mine "Johanes Halvorsen Parents" .....the marriage announcement refers to Halvor as "Corporal Halvor Olsen" . That is the only information I have about his military career.

Halvor Olsen was corporal in Hiterdalske company, Telemark Infantry Regiment established Jan. 9.1789.
The regiment consisted of ca 2200 soldiers, 34 officers divided on 2 enlisted companies, 12 national companies and 2 battalions transferred from 2nd Smċlenske regiment and 1. Vesterlenske regiment.

Not sure but being a corporal 1793 he was probably enlisted when the reg. was established 1789.
The regiment was closed 1817 and resurrected 1909 on Heistadmoen militay camp 1909 at Kongsberg, Buskerud county and continued as Telemark Battalion

A curiosity; my ancestor came to Telemark from Vesterlenske regiment as captain 1789 and died in Sauherad as Lt. colonel 1810.

They served together.
And even more.
The Lt. colonels daughter Anne born out of wedloc 1801 married cottagers son Jens Rollevsen.
Jens was 1. cousin to the masterfiddler Myllarguten

Edingsaas 1801
It was only one sub farm under Edingsaas, and with your family lived Gunnil Sigurdsdatter, servantgirl and mother to Myllarguten, he was already born but not christened before the 1801 census was done.
Gunnil Sigurdsdatter married Myllagutens father Ougen/Audun Torgersen.

Gunnil and Ougen lived on the same farm as "Husmnd" Crofters under Edingsaas when a daughter Kari was born 1805, christened Sept. 1.
See right page 2. bapt. Sept. #48
One of the godfathers was an Halvor Olsen.

Myllarguten and his family later settled down on Gunnarsrud, a sub farm under Ċnaas.

It is cool.
This is an exeption finding ancestors so close assosiated to someone in this forum, but I found a relative here, Wanda Lomprey from Wisc. We share common ancestors from Hiterdal/Heddal in Telemark from early 1700s, Gregar and Anlaug Ryen/Rygi.
She has severel postings earlier in this forum.

Strange to think about that your family knew Myllarguten well when he was a young boy.
My ancestor Jens Rollevsen b. 1798, his father Rollev Jensen was cousin to Myllargutens father Ougen Torgersen so we can assume he knew Halvors Olsens family.
In 1801 enlisted soldier Ole Tostensen 36 with wife and two sons also lived on the farm because at that time farmers in Norway were required to have at least one soldier living/working on the farm.
