Hi
I need a little help please with with 2 columns in this "moving in" record from Fåberg Sokn in Oppland for Johanna Danielsdatter and Johan Edvard Vinger - nr 3 and 4:
https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/8936/43561/7

I would like to know what the years 18? and 1854 mean in the second column "Opgiven Datum".

Also

I am having trouble reading what is written in the "Medbragit Attester" column for Johanna Danielsdatter.

Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

Ian

According to the translations of that column in the following article - "Opgiven Datum" means Reported date of arrival
http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~norway/na20.html

The column for noting any certificates brought along appears to mention the words Attest... Goteborg....... Mai 1854

Thank you for replying.
The thing I don't understand is what the years mean in the second column. The page is for 1857 and the dates next to them are not from that year.

Wouldn't that indicate that the page was written after the arrival -- or at least when the person later claimed they had arrived? That seems the most obvious way to interpret to my mind.
If you look through pages before and after the one you linked it seems to have been a common situation.

That did cross my mind but I wanted to ask anyway in case there was another reason.
Cheers

No reason is given whatsoever. And I'm not aware of any special instructions about writing that type of record originally that survives for us to study -- so we can only speculate.
