Richard Vieille
Monterey County Herald, The (CA) - Tuesday, March 30, 2004
PEBBLE BEACH CA United States

Richard Vieille died March 25 at his home in Pebble Beach
at the age of 84. Born in Los Angeles, he graduated from John Marshall High School in Hollywood. His boyhood love of boating and swimming continued at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was on the Varsity Swimming Team that won the Pacific Coast Championship in 1940.

He was also a member of the Varsity Basketball Team. Upon his graduation from Cal in 1942, he joined the United States Army, achieving the rank of Captain in the Coast Artillery battery at Fort Cronkhite. Anxious to join his younger brother Robert, who was flying B-17s in Europe, he volunteered for the Army Air Corps. His height kept him out of the cockpit of the fighter plane he wanted to fly, and he spent the remainder of the war piloting C-46s for the Troop Carrier Command.

In 1943 he married Henrietta Latour of Berkeley with whom he had two children, Ann and Richard Jr. He settled in Sacramento where he
specialized in the field of Industrial Real Estate. He was an officer in
the Society of Industrial Real Estate and a member of several Sacramento civic organizations including the Downtown Rotary Club.
The spirit of competition that marked his early life continued on the
golf courses of Sacramento, where he was a member of the Del Paso
Country Club. In 1986 he married Peggy Patch, an accomplished golfer in her own right (she's had 10 holes-in-one to Richard's one), and following their retirement to Pebble Beach they could be found at all hours of the day on one of the many Monterey Peninsula golf courses.

Richard Vieille is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy, of Pebble Beach; son, Richard and his wife Deborah, and granddaughter, Alexandra Vieille of Carmel; daughter, Ann Vieille Lydon and her husband Sandy, of Aptos. His sister, Joie Felts of North Hollywood also survives him; his brother, Robert Vieille, was killed flying a B-17 in Europe during the last weeks of World War II. Also surviving him are stepchildren, Tony Patch, Portland, Oregon; David Patch, Martinez, California; Kim Kunkel, Santa Rosa; and Don Patch of Pleasant Hill. He also left behind a group of devoted golfing and fishing buddies.

An informal gathering honoring Richard will be held at the Beach House at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club on Tuesday, March 30 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that donations in his name be made to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula's Hospice of the Central Coast (checks made out to Hospice, CHOMP), PO Box HH, Attention Development Department, Monterey 93942.

Arrangement are under the direction of The Paul Mortuary.

William W Felts, 65
William W. Felts; Auto Dealership Owner
Los Angeles Times (CA) - Saturday, March 16, 1991
William W. Felts, who rose from delivery boy to owner of Pioneer Oldsmobile-Hyundai in North Hollywood, has died at his Studio City home. He was 65.

Felts died Wednesday after accidentally shooting himself while cleaning his gun, said a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Born in Santa Maria, Calif., Felts came to the Los Angeles area as a teen-ager and graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1944. He served as a Seabee during World War II and studied business at USC. He started as a delivery boy at Pioneer Oldsmobile in 1950 and five years later was new-car sales manager.

Felts began buying into Pioneer in 1963 and by 1972 was sole owner of the auto dealership. He started the Hyundai franchise in 1988.

Felts was president of the Oldsmobile Dealers Advertising Assn. in 1985, president of the Greater Los Angeles Motor Car Dealers Assn. in 1983, and was past president of the Los Angeles Oldsmobile Sales Manager Club and the Lankershim Auto Dealers Assn.

He was a 21-year board member and past vice president of the North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, past vice president of the All Valley Chambers, past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Toluca Lake Kiwanis Club and a past honorary deputy sheriff of Los Angeles. Felts belonged to the Native Sons of the Golden West, U.S.C. Support Club, the Elks Club in Santa Maria and Burbank and Lakeside Golf Club. He also was a board member of a private equestrian club called Saddle & Sirloin and a member of an equestrian group called Rancho Visitadores.

In 1973, the North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce named him Citizen of the Year.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joie Felts; son William Carter of West Los Angeles; daughters Jodie Kresl of Long Beach and Debra Consani of Manhattan Beach; sister Beverly Rosellen of North Hollywood; and six grandchildren.

Services will be private. The Valley Funeral Home in Burbank is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Felts' name to the USC Athletic Department.

Well, what can I say? This was indeed an overwhelming amount of information and so detailed it filled in the gaps I never knew existed. Again I've to express my gratitude for what you've done for me. But it also aroused an additional question because I discovered that the Danish dude Jacob Christian Jacobsen who married Bergljot Petrovna appearently had a sister TIna Gulbrandsen born Jacobsen who married one Alfred Gulbrandsen they're not accounted for. I suspect that Alfred Gulbrandsen is a newly discovered relative and if he lived in the US may I again please ask you to run their names?

Odd Hermann Gulbrandsen was buried at Tilfredshet kapell, Trondheim on Oct. 24, 1969.
Strangely, his wife (?) is listed as Violet.
Wife, siblings and friends are mentioned. No children.

Thanks again to those who relentlessy work on this case and it seems as there is no limit for surprises. The one live relative Sverre Gulbrandsen was proably not enlightened on the partner change from Thyne to Violet and thought it was Thyne who attended the funeral service and passed this information on to me. There is no other explanation. The other surprise from his obit was his former position as "marinekaptein" which in the Norway language only means a navy captain but thinking US conditions one can doubt if he was US marines captain or a US fleet captain but never mind.

Obviously, the Christian Alfred Gulbransen (born 1846) linked to in Chicago records cannot be a child of Jonas Gustav Gulbransen (b 1842) but might he be a brother?

What else could you expect from a sleep deprived amateur? Should have written a close relative. Yes a brother. Sorry
