A puzzle is that Karen Sørensdatter born 25 june 1848 seems to have travelled with her sister Berthe to America in 1872. Yet information would lead me to believe that she married a Halvor Gulbrandsen in Norway in 1871.

Karen Sorensdatter
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Karen Sorensdatter
[Karen Olsen]
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Birth Date: 1848
Marriage Date: 22 okt 1871 (22 Oct 1871)
Marriage Place: Nes, Akershus, Norway
Father: Soren Olsen
Spouse: Halvor Gulbrandsen
FHL Film Number: 278168

#16

This appears to be her in a FAG record

Karen Gulbrandsen
in the U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current
Name: Karen Gulbrandsen
Maiden Name: Olsen
Birth Date: 25 Jun 1848
Birth Place: Norway
Death Date: 30 Nov 1910
Death Place: Wisconsin, United States of America
Cemetery: Green Valley Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Pulcifer, Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States of America
Has Bio?: N
Spouse: Halvor Gulbrandsen
Children: Oscar Gilbertson
Gilbert Gilbertson

And this seems to be Halvor traveling to America also in 1872 and also to Neenah Wisconsin (spelled Nenak or Neenak in the emigration records)

Link

A little curious who are all the others also traveling to Neenah and why did not Halvor travel with his wife.

Halvor Olson was my great Grandfather. He was born in Norway in 1864 and came to America in 1882. He married Mary G. Does this help?

A little if you mean by Mary G, this family

Marie Guldbrandson
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Church Records, 1826-1969
Name: Marie Guldbrandson
[Marie Guldbrandsen]
Gender: Female
Record Type: Marriage
Birth Place: Norge
Marriage Date: 31 Jul 1884
Marriage Place: Green Valley, Wisconsin, USA
Father: Anton Guldbrandsen
Mother: Christine Guldbrandsen
Spouse: Halvor Olsen
Church Name: Green Valley
Church Location: Green Valley, Wisconsin

Info on Halvor Olsen

Father: Ole Olsen
Mother: Oline Olsen

The connection between families could be though Karen Olson to Halvor Gulbrandsen to Marie Gulbrandsen to Halvor Olson or not.

Need to figure that out exactly of course and some proof would be useful.

This is likely the family of Halvor Olson and Marie Gulbrandsdatter in the 1900 US Census

1900

Wife Marie or Mary was born in Wisconsin. However the marriage record above lists the birth place for the bride as Norway? And in 1910 also born in Noway. Her name is also spelled Gilbertson on some records.

The FAG record matches the birth year you gave us for Halvor Olson

Halvor Olsen
in the U.S., Find A Grave Index, 1600s-Current
Name: Halvor Olsen
Birth Date: 1864
Death Date: 1943
Cemetery: Green Valley Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Pulcifer, Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States of America
Has Bio?: N
Spouse: Mary Olsen

Here is the record for Mary

Name: Mary Olsen
Birth Date: 15 Jun 1864
Death Date: 6 Aug 1910
Cemetery: Green Valley Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Pulcifer, Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States of America
Has Bio?: N
Spouse: Halvor Olsen

Anton Gulbrandsen

And this may be the death record for Anton Guldbrandsen, father is Guldbrand Arnesen, same name as in the marriage record

Anton Guldbrandsen
in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Church Records, 1826-1969Name: Anton Guldbrandsen
Death Age: 67

Death Date: 3 Jun 1909
Burial Date: 7 Jun 1909
Father: Guldbrand Arnesen

Church Name: Green Valley
Church Location: Green Valley, Wisconsin

Family of Guldbrand Arnesen in 1865 Census. I notice a Halvor Gulbrandsen in the family

1865

Yes that is at least one of the connections. If we go back and look at the marriage of Karen Sorensdatter, daughter of Søren Olsen to Halvor Gulbrandsen we see that the father of Halvor is Gulbrand Arnesen at the same farm Holter as Gulbrand Arnesen father of Anton Gulbrandsen who married Christine , and who are the parents of Marie who married your grandparent Halvor Olson.

Halvor Gulbrandsen
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926

Gender: Male
Age: 21

Spouse: Karen Sorensdatter
