I note on the Atlas page (http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=atlat) that the ship was transferred to Mediterranean Service from Trans-Atlantic service in 1884, however, I have record of a relative from Ireland landing in Boston on the Atlas on 5/15/88

http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ArchivesSearch/PassengerDetail.aspx?ID=9099138

Could this be an error or perhaps the Atlas was used for both Trans-Atlantic and Mediterranean service?

Anyone have any photos of the Atlas?

Thanks,

There are records on Ancestry.com of the Atlas arriving in New York from Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland. Here is an example from 1887.

Name: Adolf Akselson
Arrival date: 6 Sep 1887
Birth Date: abt 1866
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Norwegian
Place of Origin: Norway
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland
Destination: New York
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Atlas

However for 1888 the only records show the Atlas arriving in New York from Port au Prince, Haiti

Gender: Female
Age: 16
Birth Date: abt 1872
Departure Place: Liverpool, England
Arrival date: 15 May 1888
Arrival Place: Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Ship: Atlas

Exactly! But for some reason, the voyage is not listed in the archives for the SS Atlas found at http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_ship.asp?sh=atlat

My relative was my great grandfather, Timothy Doyle. I really want to find a photo of the ship!!

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't subscribe to Ancestry.com as I use Myheritage.com

Could you email me the photo, please?

Thanks. It only brings me to two entries, both of which are on ancestry.com

Here is a link to the Google Book page mentioned above by Kċre. Scroll down a little to the bottom of page 18 and you will see a picture of the Atlas. There is no connection to Ancestry that I can see.
