My grandmother was Margith Andersen born in Stokke Norway approximately 1889. She was the daughter of Anders Johannson ( Not sure of the spelling of Storevar also Stokke, Norway. Apparently there were 12 children in the family. Does anyone know of this family?

I wonder if your birth year is off by ten?

Here in the 1891 Census is a Margit born in 1879. Father is Anders Johannessen and the farm is Storevahr, Stokke, Vestfold

1891

Only three children in 1891

What other information do you have on Margit or her parents?

Here is the Ancestry.com record on the above Margit.

It is possible that the father Edvard Magnusson travelled back and forth from Norway to Canada several times. Here are some of the records for Edvard Magnusson born about 1850 traveling to Canada.

With a Jenny Magnusson in 1905, could be his daughter born about 1888.

Emigration 1905

Emigration 1906

Travelling alone, note the address is Sandergard and sligtyoly different than the Sannergard for the family in the 1900 Norwegian Census.

And here he is 1911 going to his son. The birth date given for him matches that for the Edvard born 6-13-1850 in Sweden so very likely the same man.

Emigration 1911

In fact the more I look at the emigration records, it looks to me like several of the children travelled to Canada. If they stayed there and settled or returned to either Norway or Sweden is really not yet clear.

We think the father travelled back and forth several times. No sign that the mother Alette travelled to Canada.

Here is a list of the children from 1900 Census and the likely year for their travel to Canada

Gottfrid Magnussen 1879 Kristiania 1907
Augusta Magnussen 1881 Kristiania 1905
Anna Magnussen 1887 Kristiania
Hulda Magnussen 1891 Kristiania
Einar Magnussen 1893 Kristiania 1908
Helga Magnussen 1894 Kristiania 1908
Jenny Magnussen 1888 Kristiania 1905
Emil Magnussen 1884 Kristiania 1906

Also in all this digging I came across a son of Edvard Magnusson and Alette Elise Olsdatter that I had missed.

Olaf Martin Magnussen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
