Records I have of our Carl Aamodt he was born 18 October 1879 in Ostre Gaustal, Oppland, Norway. He was Naturalized 20 August 1907 in State of North Dakota county of McHenery
Question: Where is Ostre?

Gausdal is a municipality in Oppland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Gudbrandsdal. Østre Gausdal is a former municipality in Oppland county, Norway. It was created when Gausdal was split into Østre and Vestre Gausdal in 1879. On 1 January 1962 the two municipalities were reunited under the name Gausdal.

Here is a blown up section of Oppland showing the two Gausdal's as if they still existed as two.

I have some researching to do with all the information each of you has so kindly given me :-)
I could not read all the names who attended the Christening of Marie. Is the biological father listed at the Christening?

Could it be that Kristian Aamodthaugan was born on the ship? He is listed as a female in one of the census records.

Many thanks for all your timely research,
Jennice Severson

As noted by Hopkins in 1910 there is an Amund Aamodt at Barton:

Agness Aamodt Daughter F 4 North Dakota
Helmer Aamodt Son M 2 North Dakota

"United States Census, 1910," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MLGJ-JC4 : accessed 28 May 2019), Amund Aamodt, Barton, Pierce, North Dakota, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) ED 142, sheet 8B, family 124, NARA microfilm publication T624 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1982), roll 1146; FHL microfilm 1,375,159.

But it appears that Amund didn't leave until 1903:

Amund Kristiansen Aamodthaugen

It appears that Marie (Age 6) came to US in 1903 with her stepfather's family. Their destination was Wisconsin.

Vaage (Vågå) is another district in Oppland, Norway. That is where you would look for records of his birth, etc.
https://media.digitalarkivet.no/kb/browse?counties%5B%5D=05&clerical_parishes%5B%5D=0515P&start_year=&end_year=&text=

Reirat may not be the farm/residence of his birth in Vågå but may be a location where he later worked or resided.

Einar Olsen Reirat born about 1872 is perhaps a difficult find. In the Digitalarkivet records there is no person on the Reirat farm named Einar Olsen. There is no Einar Olsen born about 1872 in Vaagas in those same records. However there is a Einar Olsen born May 28, 1870 in the records for Vestre Gausdal. His father is Ole Johnson Dahl and mother is Kristine Amundsdatter. Here are some records on him. Seems to have never married.

1875 Census on Barlund

1875

Confirmed in 1885

Conf

Fathered a child out of wedlock in 1890. Farm then was Børønningen. Record indicates that it was his second transgression.

#17

Living with parents on Ulsrud in 1891 Census, unmarried

1891

Same for 1900 Census

1900

Same for 1910 Census

1910

Lots of records for him in Vestre Gausdal, no records for him in Østre Gausdal.
