I’d like to find the farm/area my Norwegian relatives were from.
Also trying to fill in family tree beyond Simon’s parents Ole Simonsen and Tora Issacsdtr.

Thank you in advance,
Kim Niehouse

Some follow-up on Hopkins' candidates below. With the very sparse input you have given, this is still only a guess:

Baptism in Sel subparish under Vågå: #53, born Nov 10th, baptised Dec 10th: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070130640070

Some notes on this family in a pdf-document on the Internet: http://jamtland.forening.genealogi.se/PDF/Norge.pdf Posted on a Swedish genealogy site by a descendant living in Sweden.

Another possible Simen Olsen born in Sel subparish under Vågå.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NWL9-2ML

This one better seems to match a finding in the 1875 Norwegian census -
http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1875&knr=0515&kenr=012&bnr=0079&lnr=00

So if Kim can identify the wife and daughter of her great-great grandfather there might be a chance to actually find the right family.

The tree on Ancestry managed by Kim (Cook/Bracken family tree) contains Simon Olsen's birth on Nov 10th 1843, matching Hopkins' first candidate.

The document found on the Swedish site tells that Simen Olsen's father Ole Simensen was born on Furuløkken under Brekken, possibly the origin of the subsequent family name. The same document also gives the directions for finding the family in Northern Trøndelag in the 1865 census:

The information from the Swedish genealogy site is my great great grandfathers family! :) I will have it translated and attempt
to research further with any of that information I find.
I’m assuming Furulokken is a farm name? Sounds like Simen joined a Brekke farm as a young man. Also I have a Norwegian bible with my great grandfathers (Oskar Lauritz) brothers name Oskar Johan Brakkan written inside with the year 1879, the year he died. It is pretty large/ornate and I’m wondering no if this was given to Simen from the church where his sons service/burial was held? Does that sound like tradition?
Thank you so much! #129303;

In the following thread from 2003, both Geir Tverå and John Morten Malerbakken say that they have more information on the family, and invite those interested to contact them by mail. (Just say that you aren't a robot, and you will see the addresses.)

Note that on this forum there is a button for English translation

Based on the Swedish site for birth of Thora on August 8, 1820 in Sel, Våga, Oppland, this is likely her birth record. Parents are Isach Jacobsen and Rønnog Christstensdatter.

#51

And from that here is the marriage of Thora and Ole

Thora Isaachsdr
in the Norway, Select Marriages, 1660-1926
Name: Thora Isaachsdr
[Thora Jacobsen]

Marriage Date: 29 okt 1843 (29 Oct 1843)
Marriage Place: Vaagaa,Opland,Norway
Father: Isaach Jacobsen
Spouse: Ole Simonsen
FHL Film Number: 307268

His father is Simon Tostensen Skarreie and her father is Isach Jacobsen Skjeleie.

#16

And Isach Jacobsen married Rønnog Xstensdatter on Jan 18, 1801

Link

Looks as if they had a earlier daughter

Ronnoug Isaksen
