Hello! I’ve been researching Maria Karoline Nilssen’s mother
Eva Johanna isaksdr Lyng and I’ve found records on a Norwegian document site that show her born
in 1825 in Kaafjord. It’s a census from 1866. Of course no Nils Rasmussen.

As Jackie already mentioned, you need to share the sources of your information. That would be a big help.

Based on the records that I have seen I am not sure right now that we know where Eva was born or when.

There are three Eva' Isaks* in the 1875 Census in the three Northern counties of about the right age.

1 Eva Isaksdatter (b. 1823, Alkola, Finland) Alta, Moen, Finnmark

Link

And in 1865 but listed as being born in Sweden

1865

2
Eva Isaksdatter (b. 1830, Kvalsund) Hammerfest, Finnmark

Link

And in 1865

1865

3 Eva Isaksdatter (b. 1825, Karungi Finland) Tana: Golgojok, Finnmark

Link

In the 1865 Census there is one candidates that does not appear in the 1875 Census that I could find.

She is listed as being born in Sweden. Her husband a Mathis Rauti is also listed as being born in Sweden. However her children are listed as being born in Kaafjord. So is she really born in Sweden?

4 Eva Isaksdatter (b. 1823*, Sverige) Alta, Finnmark

1865

This record might help quite a bit. Here is the marriage of Jon Ericksen Lyng and widow Eva Johanna Isaksdatter in 1863. Her father is Isak Mikkelsen. She was born abt 1827.

A possible Isak Mikkelsen born abt 1806 in Sweden Based on the ethnicity column the family are listed as Kv so he family is likely classified as Sami.

I apologize for my earlier post not including links.
Here is the link to the info regarding Eva and birthplace as Kaafjord.

There is a Isac Mikkelsen active in Talvik where the records for both Kaafjord (Kåfjord) and Alten (Alta) are found during the 1820 to 1840 time frame. Here is one of his children.

Ane Grethe Isaksen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Ane Grethe Isaksen
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 18 okt 1831 (18 Oct 1831)
Baptism Date: 13 nov 1831
Baptism Place: , Talvik, Finnmark, Norway
Father: Isak Michelsen
Mother: Maria Helene Larsdr
FHL Film Number: 124212

#59

The other one is Marie Grethe born in 1833.

Link

Married in 1858

Link

I did not find a Eva Johanna for these parents.

My guess is that Kv stands for Kvensk, which is not the same as Sami:

His wife Inger is Lp Kv which might mean Laplander Kven which illustrates that Kv (Kven) is used to designate both groups.

It also says Isack has been in Norway for 30 years, so if true, he might not be the father of Eva Johanna who was born (dates vary) 1825, 1827 but in Norway.

Who was Eva's first husband, the one who died in Bardo?

In the list of confirmation for Talvik is a Eva Isaksdatter Karbin age 17 in 1842. Father is Isak Karbin. Birth place looks like Øvre Tornio?

#4

And from my post above

Here is the marriage of Eva Isacsdatter Karbui with Johan Johannes Heika. Probably 1 on the list above

#42

Father is Isak Larsen Karbui ?, age is 26,

Now it is getting a little confusing, but this may not be the same Eva Johanna who married John Lyng but one born in Finland and raised and confirmed in Talvik.
