Ole Martin Evensen was born 3 Dec 1882 in Scandinavia, Waupaca, WI, and died 22 May 1933 in Milwaukie. Burial information: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/75994275/ole-m_-evenson

I am trying to find out more about his parents and where the family came from in Norway. I wonder if anyone has information.

Ole's mother was Kari with names in various forms:Carrie, Karen/Karn/Carn. Kari was born in Norway 14 October 1845 and died in Scandinavia, Waupaca 14 April 1909, grave memorial https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/107945367/carn-bee

Without a patronymic and/or farm name, it is difficult to search for Kari. Based on family information, I have searched Norwegian census and church records for Stange and also Vestre Slidre, but have not been able to find Kari in church records or to affirm that one of the 250 women named Kari in the 1865 census is our gal. Kari was apparently married twice, first to the father of Ole Martin Evensen, and then to a man named Barney/Bennie N. Bee. He was born in Norway, and I suspect that his original name could have been Bjarne Nilsen (?) Bøe.

Kari and her first husband had another son who called himself Henry Evenson in the USA. He was born in Norway 18 May 1872 and died in 1957, grave memorial https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/137411936/henry-evenson

Family members think that Kari's first husband and father of the two sons was a man named Christian Evensen, but I have not been able to find a likely candidate. The earliest US census information I have found is in 1900. Carrie, Barney and Ole were living in Waupaca. In Kari's will the name the name "Engen" is inserted after Ole M Evenson. This may have been a farm name in Ole's father's family, but this is the only reference I have found. Available on Ancestry https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/9088/007711478_00862/257379?backurl=https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/7772018/person/6957866303/facts/citation/105277710079/edit/record

Ole M Evenson married Frances Stahl, whose family came from Austria. In the 1930 census they were living at 144 Seeley Street in Milwaukee. Ole apparently converted to Catholocism.

Thanks in advance to any information or advice you all may have!

In the 1880 census of Waupaca county Wisconsin there are 2 Christian Evenson b Norway:
Erick Evenson Self M 50 Norway
Christine Evenson Wife F 60 Norway
Anne Evenson Daughter F 24 Norway
Edwin Evenson Son M 22 Norway
Christian Evenson Son M 20 Norway

"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MNH5-HBQ : 14 September 2017), Christian Evenson in entry for Erick Evenson, 1880; citing enumeration district ED 168, sheet 74B, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d), roll 1451; FHL microfilm 1,255,451.

And the other is
Christian Evenson Self M 40 Norway
Olena Evenson Wife F 36 Norway
Gusta Evenson Daughter F 16 Wisconsin, United States
Emma Evenson Daughter F 13 Wisconsin, United States
Theodor Evenson Son M 11 Wisconsin, United States
Ida Evenson Daughter F 8 Wisconsin, United States
Louisa Evenson Daughter F 5 Wisconsin, United States
Elouva Evenson Daughter F 3 Wisconsin, United States
Hannah Evenson Daughter F 1 Wisconsin, United States

The second one is likely the Christian Evenson who married in the 1860s in Waupaca county.

And, of course there could be any number of Christian Evenson who came from Norway 1880-1883.

Census-1920 shows a "Bent N Bye" (70) in Scandinavia, Waupaca. He is a widower, and brother to head Maria Peterson. I believe her husband was Sigurd Peterson, and that they married 03 Sep 1881,
Her father's Name: T...G... Olson Torger Olson
Her mother's Name: Mary Oleson

A second marriage record from the same marriage:
Her father's Name: Inger Olson Torger Olson
Her mother's Name: Mary Oleson

Sigurd Peterson (1843 - 06 Mar 1909)
Helene Marie Peterson
Birth Date: 1859
Birth Place: Fluberg, Søndre Land, Oppland, Norway
Death Date: 24 May 1950

#27 Helene Maria
Born: 31 Dec 1859
Chr: 26 Feb 1860, Søndre Land, Oppland, Norway
Parents: Torger Olsen & Birte Marie Olsdr

Census-1865
She has a brother Bernt born 26 Mar 1850, which should be "Bernt N Bye", the stepfather to Ole Martin Evensen, The place Mebakke in Fluberg is under main farm Nerby, which is likely why Bernt goes by the name Bye in Wisconsin.

Marriage 19 Nov 1890, Scandinavia, Waupaca, Wisconsin, United States
Bernd Torgersen, parents Torger Olsen & Berte Olsen
Karen Hansen, parents Hans Thorkensen & Olea Olsen

#156 Karen
Born 14 Oct 1844
Chr 10 Nov 1844, Faaberg, Oppland, Norway
Parents: Hans Torstensen & Olea Olsdr

Possibly Census-1865

Wonder if this could be Olea?
Farm is Moen, and her age is 44. Husband is Torgersen and only 30, so possibly 2nd husband?

Looking for places where Chris Evensen / Carrie overlap in Norway associated with name Engen, here is a long shot possible:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000013095331

A Christian Evensen and a Karine Christiansdatter each residing in Nordengen serve as faddernes in this baptism. You sometimes see current and future couples serving in this capacity....

I'm confident that Ole's mother Kari is Karen Hansdr, born 14 Oct 1844 by parents Hans Torstensen & Olea Olsdr
And that Barney Bonee is Bernd Torgersen Bye, born 26 Mar 1850 by parents Torger Olsen & Berte Marie Olsdr.

Question remain; where is Christian Evensen and her son Henry.
And where is their emigration record? Karen supposedly emigrated in 1882. Bernt and sister Helene Marie about 1878/79.
