Looking for the name of the ships that my great grandfather had, he was also a ship captain and went on to be ship inspector. It is my understanding that my great grandfather, Nils Jorgen Larsen, born in 1859 inherited his father's (Lars Jorgen Olsen) ships only to loose them all in the late 1800's . Looks like the ships were sail ships that hauled cargo around the world.

Your earlier topic said Nils Jorgen was born 1865 which is correct?

I am so sorry, I misread what I had wrote down, he was born in 1859, and died in 1920 due to an accident at sea. Thanks for checking this, I will see if I can correct the posts

Nils' dodfallsprotokol #1493:
SAO, Oslo skifterett, G/Ga/Gac/L0010: Dødsfallsprotokoll, 1919-1921, p. 239
Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/sk20090515351345

It would be best for Norwegian first language folks to translate but I think it says he died at Ullevaal (which is a hospital, I believe) and that he was fraskilt (that is divorced).

Here is his death notice:

It says he died in an accident.

I didn't expect you to read the Norwegian. I'm hoping some of the Norwegian language folks here on NorwayHeritage will take it up and translate. Ulykke means accident

It didn't say where his accident occured or what type of accident it was. Most often on ship, you fall from a height into the water and drown, in effect an accident.

None of these records call him Nils Jorgen either, but his date of death is 2 Dec 1920 which matches the familysearch database Tore posted a link to.

Both of the records describe him as "bryggearbeider" which Google translates as "stevedore."

Where did you get the story that he was a captain or ship owner?

The death protocol states that he died on Ullevaal Sykehus (Ullevaal hospital in Oslo) on 2. ds. (December 2nd) and I think it says that avdøde var fraskilt sin hustru Gunda Mathilde, i.e. that the deceased was divorced from his wife Gunda Mathilde. Different addresses are also given for the deceased and his wife. His age is given as 61 7/12 years old, which matches fairly well with the birth date of April 1st 1859 given on the familysearch tree. Now the question is if this information matches your own. Do you, for instance, have independent knowledge that your great grandmother's name was Gunda Mathilde?

This could be the Lars Jørgen Olsen of the Familysearch tree, with wife and the three youngest children in 1891:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01052721066515

And the same people in 1900,:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01037045008795

So if this is your family, your great grandfather probably didn't inherit his father before 1900.

Here is a Nils Jorgen Larsen living with his paternal grandmother and aunt and uncle in Oslo in 1875:

This may be the rest of the family in 1875:

And another possible for the rest of the family in 1875 [Anna} Helene is a widow:

And another possible for just the sister Anne Lovise in 1875:
