This looks like the emigration record for Reier Olsen leaving in 1890 even tho he is listed as 50 years old which is a little light. But he is going to Wadena and not many people do.

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/8/pe00000000027244

He is accompanied by Anna Olsen age 19, Reinhert age 15 all from Hedrum and all going to Wadena.

Need a little sorting out here as to who is who?

Hm, interesting that he gives his age as just 50. I found the passenger list with Anna and Reinert. It was alphabetized by last names, and a few pages earlier there is a 50 year old Reier ("Rever") Olsen,

At first glance, he seems to be travelling with a 30 year old wife and four young children, but it doesn't have to be interpreted that way. It looks like he is going to Iowa and the "wife" to Illinois. "Wife" could just be her "occupation", not necessarily the relation to the person above, who just ended up there by alphabetization.

But Reinert's mother died in 1879 (first record below line), so his father could have started a new family in the early 1880ies.

Good find. But the ones going to Illinois are not Anna Olsen and Reinert Olsen. A bit of a mystery.

The "wife''s" bill has been paid in America and she and thechildren are going to Chicago:

So what happened to Reier Olsen born 1832 who was leaving Tjψlling with his son Reinert born 1875. I only found Reinerrt 1875 arriving with his sister Anna 1871 into Philadelphia? Tore found him in the arrival manifest but no sign of him in Iowa after his arrival. And no sign of Anna after arrival either.

I doubt that the family going to Illinois is connected to the ones going to Wadena Iowa.

Now it is not clear that Brian is particularly curious about the fate of Hanna's father-in-law, but if he were (and I agree this could be relevant to understand why the family gravitated towards Oregon) would there be a way to get in contact with whoever wrote the above mentioned piece on Reier Olsen on find-a-grave and ask how he or she came to the conclusion that Ryer was really Reier and that he was born in 1836?
