As far as I can tell she was not on the ship with her mother and siblings when they left Oslo in 1872.

Mother Martha, Olaf age 11, Fredrik age 8, Alfred age 5.5, Harold age 3. 5, Arthur age 3 mo.

There is also a Marie Michels.age 30 with them, may be a helper. Mom probably needed it.

Also if this is the family in the 1865 Census she is met living them?

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038012002352

This might be her in 1875 Census as Ragna Hansen

Okay possible but Louis and his family have a nephew living with them in 1880 and grandma living with them in 1865 (and possibly in 1880 as well.) Would they have not had their daughter with them at some time?

I wonder what happened and who is the Marie Michels. leaving with them?

But here is a Ragna Christine Mikkelsen death:

Here are familymembers mostly known as Nickelsen from Oslo & area, but I got interested since there were a sprinkling of Nikkelsens in the records which is the spelling on the marriage record.:

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000036262707

The son Nicholai Gottfrid Nickelsen in 1865 census:

Not clear from the transcription which of the two It is the son Nicholai Gottfrid Nickelsens this is who dies in 1867:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/267/pg00000003620555

Here is his dodsfallsprotokol #279
SAO, Oslo skifterett, G/Ga/Gaa/L0007: Dødsfallsprotokoll, 1864-1870, p. 133b-134a
Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/sk20081219310561

The first newspaper mention of Nikkelsen is this report dated 3 Feb 1818 mentioning Skipper N.R. Nikkelsen:
https://www.nb.no/items/81c7e769b119c14d5f35d6d6e2ab0d9c?page=1&searchText=%22nikkelsen%22

Here characterized as Captein Nich G Nikkelsen from Christiania at Hamburg:
https://www.nb.no/items/2d111149f1f390737f663fe8d6056050?page=3&searchText=%22nikkelsen%22

Not exactly sure which Nikkelsen this is but he goes with wife and 5 children:
https://www.nb.no/items/1a9228ccb8fecfffbb3833270edd4162?page=3&searchText=%22nikkelsen%22

Family connections mentioned: Reinholdt Nickelsen and his brother Johannes in 1828:
https://www.nb.no/items/95fcdcfbfa1a2022768085f490452339?page=3&searchText=%22%20nickelsen%22

Under a big headline Auktion is a mention of avdode N.G. Nickelsen:
https://www.nb.no/items/998e4b305ff4324e9180f577bf6a8d00?page=1&searchText=%22n%20g%20nickelsen%22

An N.G. Nickelsen as sponsor at a Nickelsen baptism in Drammen in 1812:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000005605694

Not sure how or if this Katrine Sofie Elisabeth Nickelsen connects but born 1843 too old to be Carrie Sofie:

Johan Gottfred Nickelsen returns Oslo citizenship:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/37/pc00000000000401

Is the father of numerous children baptized in Oslo:
Signe Marie in 1832:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000038344209

Didrik Johannes Otto in 1834:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000038991273

Martha b abt 1835:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000038561229

Diderik Oluf in 1838:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000039243654

Hanne Christiane in 1839:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000039242037

Johannes in 1840:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000039245103

Anne Lovise in 1841:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000039246381

Peter in 1844:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000039249858

All newspaper references to Johan G Nickelsen stop in 1845. His widow Gunhild dies 4 Oct 1880 and there is an announcement by her children.
https://www.nb.no/items/dd890486d958e63b11113b243c8855e9?page=1&searchText=%22gunhild%20nickelsen%22

Gunhild's dodsfallsprotokol #1960 gives these details 4 living adult children: one lives in Copenhage Denmark, 1 in New York and 2 live here. There are also 4 grandchildren who live in Copenhagen and "ovrige hersted". Son P. Nickelsen has reported her death.

SAO, Oslo skifterett, G/Ga/Gaa/L0010: Dødsfallsprotokoll, 1878-1880, p. 262b-263a
Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/sk20081219320840

But he actually dies sometime in 1877:
https://www.nb.no/items/7cf664ed6cb47afc0e31642b72aa4a6b?page=1&searchText=%22gunhild%20nickelsen%22

So son Peter is living in Oslo in 1880, son Johannes is the one in New York:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZ82-J47

Johannes in New York in 1870:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8F8-QMV

Johannes in Brooklyn in 1892 working as real estate agent:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQ3X-VHS

Johannes marries Esther Fogerty in New York in 1869:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:24ZT-NPH

This is probably Johannes' death in Brooklyn in 1899:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WF3-6MZ

A Surrogate's Notice published in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle on Saturday 30 Dec 1899 page 10 col 7 notices heirs of John Nicholson in the probating of a Last Will & Testament named Esther Nicholson, Alfred Baarsen, Allette Baarsen, Peter Nicholson, Martha Carstenson to be held on 12 Feb 1900.

Esther Nicholson is the widow. In all the censuses she and John appear to have had no children. Alfred and Allette are children of John's sister Hanne.
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038012002571

Martha Carstensen is the one child in Denmark and in 1880 census there she has 3 daughters one of which is named Sophie Katerine aged 16:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QL6H-X4NC
The transcription gives Martha's maiden name as Nielsen but the actual image looks like Niklsen.

Here is Martha's marriage to Nils Fredrick Carstenson in 1870. Martha's name carried as Nielsen:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/327/pv00000004622222

Sofie Katherine is not in the household in 1890:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QL6K-VJBS

Sofie Catherine #50 b 2 Feb 1863 her mother is Signe Marie Nickelsen and father Nils Fredrik Carstensen. All godparents are relatives:
SAO, Trefoldighet prestekontor Kirkebøker, F/Fa/L0001: Ministerialbok nr. I 1, 1858-1863, s. 324
Brukslenke for sidevisning: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20060213061150

Signe Marie Nickelsen dies 13 June 1868:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/267/pg00000003690607
So Martha Nickelsen married her sister's widower.

So here it is a bizarre possibility that Carrie Sophie Nicholson is actually this person who went to Canton, Ohio from Denmark in 1881:
Navn: Carstensen, Maria Christine Stilling: Tyende (m/k land)
Alder: 17 Bestemmelsessted: Canton, Ohio
Kontrakt nr.: 395100 Forevisningsdato: 5/23/1881
Sidste oph.sogn: Barrit Sidste oph. amt: Vejle
Sidste oph.sted: Barrit, Veile Bestemmelses land: USA
Bestemmelses by: Canton Bestemmelses stat: Ohio
Skibsnavn: Indirekte

IDkode: I8081C2203

Martha Carstensen dies in 1907. Niels F Carstensen dies in 1909. Neither of their death notices mentions any surviving children by name or location.

Marie Christine Carstensen is not a good possible. Name doesn't match (Sofie Katerine or Carrie Sophie). Age and birthdate signficantly differ from Carrie as 29 June 1859 and 3 Apr 1863. Only year of arrival matches

Sophie Catherine Carstenson is out of consideration as she marries a man named Niels Hjorth in 1884 in Denmark.

Here is another family which could theoretically have a daughter with a birthyear close to Carrie's, this from the 1875 census:

Here is another Nickelsen family which could just possibly have a spot for a daughter Carrie. Here in the 1875 census school principal Niel Stockfleth Schultz Nickelsen (and no Carrie is visible but I haven't found this family in the 1865 census) :
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01052055045615

Have found Niels SS Nickelsen in 1865 census, but no Carrie:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038027033881

Here is Niels' baptism, parents are Hans Lauritz Nickelsen and Olava:
#63
SAKO, Bragernes kirkebøker, F/Fb/L0001: Parish register (official) no. II 1, 1830-1847, p. 35
Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20061219610324

His father Hans died 14 Nov 1851 in this announcement in the paper by his widow Olava.
https://www.nb.no/items/c3fc3b2c0b7e75093c0460a297cd0f99?page=3&searchText=%22olava%20%20nickelsen%22

So Hans and Olava could not be parents of Carrie.

School principal Nickelsen died in Feb 1917 according to this article:
https://www.nb.no/items/5dd5393bd60be14cb4efe9d19ed887eb?page=3&searchText=%22Skolebestyrer%20%20nickelsen%22

Jens Nikelsen is where two of the lines discussed converge, here in 1801 census at Drammen:
