Many thanks, Jan. Olaf is a first cousin twice removed to me, so appreciate the picture, but his birth year is not correct should be 1886.

Norwegian Hunter Corps? is that part of the military establishment or it it more like being a game warden?

The Norwegian Hunter Corps is definitely a part of the Norwegian military establishment. It is the elite of the professional infantry soldiers.

How does one attain membership--merit- based or class? As far as I know his birth family were not of any particular prominence.

I think he just did his ordinary conscription, and then proceeded by taking exams and additional courses.
