first of all thank you all our members trying for me some of the members will remember me when i was tracing my family who we lost contact with in the 1950s with the members help we found them and i sent a letter to the Graesvik site where a lady translated it and the next day i got a letter from a close cousin who i am stilll in close contact with a nice note is that my cousin and his family met up with my niece in Oslo so that was our families meeting again after 70 years thanks to our members
as for my aunt she is the sisiter of my grandfather so i have quite A FEW DETAILS ABOUT HER i have been doing my tree for many years so i have a bit of experience of genealogy i contacted my cousin and he said in the family bible it is written Laur HAD to go to America??? what this means i dont know this is part of my quest i repeat her info Laura Inga Alexandra born 7th October 1871 left from Oslo to go to America 7 March 1902 up until 1891 she worked with her father at the Timber Yard in Onsoy (now Onso)i did see the marriage of a woeman of same name and age in the digitalarkivet and 2 kids also there but as she is detailed of travelling alone i would then have to question that marriage and check it out hope this helps

However, Alf Bruun / Brun is Laura's and Holger's son, apparently never married.

My initial entry had Laura married to Holgar with 2 kids so this may be correct I have looked at Alfs BIRTH ORIGINAL and they r both his parents the other child was born 1897 Kristian Bruun 2-25-1897 maybe the date of marriage is on that record I'm sure I saw the marriage somewhere THTS why I put it on my tree I will check tree to see if I have put it down

Until you find the actual birth / baptism record for the son Kristian (1897) and where she / they were in 1900 you won't know what Laura's and Holger's status was. They may never have married. I suspect that in each child's baptism they will be listed as "ungkarl" and "pige" as they are on Alf's/

I suspect when Laura left as a single woman it was not as a "fraskilt" divorced single woman but as a "pige" unmarried single woman.

re The family legend about Laura that she "had" to leave for America, do the "nasty" math. She married on 29 March 1902, probably the day she arrived in Wisconsin. According to the tree the eldest child was born in 1902. Depending on the date, the why she "had" to leave for America might become more apparent.

there are for me some worrying things that it might be the right person we are following as every item i have on her she details her actual full birth date 10-7-1871, but when in America it is 1872 , but ok that could be a mistake but in the family tree they have down as her mother Bobre Heglan although the fathers name is correct Hans Peter Pedresen her Mother should be Karoline Elizabet Heggeland maybe the Bobre is a shortened version of one of her names , it seems to coincidental for this Laura to have very near the same parents name ,so it must be her

It's carved in stone on her headstone as 1873:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/242159289/laura-sorlie

Dates from census records are approximate years. Her actual death certificate might have a fuller birthdate for her (as well as her parents' names and her birthplace) and perhaps there is some record in the church in America which might have her birthdate.

When did Hans Peter Pederson die and where? Ditto Laura's mother?

This might be his obit which gives his death date as 6 June 1902:

#47 is Hans Petter Pedersen, his children are all listed and about Laura it says she is married to (looks like) Sevrinz Sørlie and at the top of the next page ---- in Eauklar i America which might be a rendering of Eau Claire Wisconsin.

#72 Karoline Elisabeth Pedersen
Onsøy lensmannskontor, SAO/A-10007/H/Ha/L0001: Dødsfallsprotokoll, 1897-1909, p. 59-60

Same list of survivors as in Hans' record with the addition of her widower. Laura is listed as 29 years old but no spouse is mentioned and she apparently is living in Græsvig. Karoline died in 1901.
