I am seeking information on Anders and Jens Bolstad. I understand that there is family info in a book written by Lars E. Oyane, a Luster County Historian, about the Bolstad family. Neil Hofland forwarded that it is in vol. 1 under farm #20, Bolstad, husmannsplass Teigane 3. (I do not have access to this book.) We would appreciate any information on this family. Also, is there info after coming to Dane Co., Wi. Did Kari Johannesdotter Saebo from Vik (1846-1925) first marry Anders and after being widowed marry Jens. Or was she married to someone else? Thanks so much for any information that you can give me.

Luster is not a county (flyke), it is a municipality/parish in Sogn og Fjordane county.
There is alot Digitalarkivet online records for Luster:

More information would help, when did they emigrate, places they settled, childrens names, etc. |

The Luster church records have been microfilmed and are available for rental at a local Family History Center. Census and farm books are secondary sources and need to be verified by the actual church records:

Some of the history of my family is also in the book written by Lars E. Oyane, a Luster County Historian. My family belongs to Johan George Wilhelm Johnson whom I understand married into a family that is in this book or that the book was written about. We are doing genealogy and any information about our family would be so appreciated. We would also be interested in knowing if any relatives still remain in Norway.

You have just a name, Johan George Wilhelm Johnson, and a general distrct location, Luster.
What information do you have about Johan G.W. Johnson? When and where born? Emigrated from Norway? if yes, when? Later resided where? What documents have been completely researched AFTER immigration? Married to who? when? where? Known names of any siblings, parents??
We really can't start looking for someone in Norway records without knowing time period, other family members names, etc...

Johan George Wilhelm Johnson born 1864 or later, married Bertha Maria Linjorde and had siblings by the names of Helga born 1867, married Ole Halvorsen (O.H. Olsen) Emma, Selma born 1874 who married name was Thoen, Albert born 1870 who married Gusta Bertha Glarum.
The parents of the above siblings wee Nels Nettum Johnson and Wilhelmine Helene Wilhelmsen. |

Luster is historically is a clerical district and/or parish in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. Lars Øyane has been a long time quite active participant in the Norway mailing list (on Rootsweb/Ancestry but currently unavailable since January of this year). The mailing list might be returned to functionality in the next month or so but you'd have to keep watch for that.
The "Gards- og ættesoge for Luster kommune" is a multi-volume work by Lars Øyane. The last count that I've been able to find online is that he has published 11 volumes. If you know of a volume or volumes that you are interested in researching in they might be available to you through Inter-Library Loan.

You seem to know a lot about John George William Johnson already. Are you looking for information about him or about his wife Bertha Maria Linjorde?
Her name would indicate she has or had a connection to the Lingjerde farm Luster, Sogn og Fjordane.
She married John George Johnson in 1891 in Vernon Wisconsin.

The marriage record for Johan George Wilhelm Johnson and Bertha Maria Linjorde lists that the bride was born in Wisconsin and the groom in or near Oslo,Norway. That record further clarifies that Nels Johnson and Wilhelmine Wilhelmson were the parents of Johan G.W. Johnson. That explains why there was NO record for any such parents in the 1865 Norwegian census for Luster area...
You claimed that it was Johan's bride, Bertha's family that had some link to Luster. But since Bertha was born in Wisconsin we cannot yet make any link to the records for Luster. More information will have to be dug out of US records before any such link could be made.
