Hi I am back and now i am trying go go track into Emma Moen's Dad's Birthdate and year? however I got her mom eli Johnsdatter. and found Eli's mom and dad too. I am trying to find Ole Olsen.
All I got was
Ole Olsen B??
Eli Johnsdaatter B 1823 d 1908?
Emma Moen
another sister? is that correct?

| I find out more over by Emma Moen's file but somehow I see that Ole O Moen? Ole Olsen was born 1818? and married to Eli 1854? and I need his Dad's name? and What city was Ole born in 1818? |

| HI, I was wondering are you having hard time finding Ole Olsen's parent? Eli Johnsdatter's parent. I would like to get their names so I can move on to look for it. not sure if i got the right parent of Eli's. eli born 1823. Ole born ? 1818? |

| I am back, I found Ole O. Moen through Find a Grave through Emma Moen's profile on this norway information, and His birthdate is oct 16, 1818 and died dec 16, 1894 in MInnesota. . but I need his father and his mom's name. so I will search more on the "FamilySearch.org" Thanks. |

| I see that but I am confused to this point cause I have too many that come from Norway, forgive me for this and I will wait for Jane to come on this post and check that out with Ole's dad.. all i found was Ole O Moen only one from find a grave and also from minnesota state 1885 census through family search. so I am trying to focus on those two men at this point. I will go and try those two website that jane gave me on other post. am trying not to confused with everything. I will get back on this later today! Thanks for your time and have a good day |

HI i am back, sorry for all the confused I have and had.. so I am now more clear.. I have three done write three post today. one Emma's grandparent, and Louis Larson as Clara's husband. so now I am here to talk about Emma's Father's side, as I already found her mom's parents. so I am wanted to find Ole Olson, Those are very complicate on our USA Census. so on the Minnesota state of 1885 that the only name I found was in Ole O. Moen with his wife Eli and not sure about the kids.
I am trying to make it easier but in my mind is all messed up. so Forgive me for doing this.
I want to focus on Emma's dad Ole O. Moen, I want to be able to find His father and mother that came from Norway, Thank you! |

| see this Jane. all thread i have gone through and its all same person are we speaking of or because of Louis's dad and this Emma? both same name Ole Olsen or Ole Olsen Moen? both same. can be very tricky? so I rather to make it right person here instead of confusing! can you please make it right person for me so I know it is the right man of the father's .. I see all three threads and I am seeing same name in those three post. I am not trying to confused with this. so I might need to clear this up with all those name. I am not going to back and forth to confused.. so I rather to find Louie's dad... Lar Larson, then His dad is Ole Olsen? |

Hi Lisa, we talked about Louis Olai Larsen's parents in the Louie Larsen thread.
Louis Olai Larsen's DAD is
Lars Larsen born 14 February 1842 in Hosanger
Louis Olai Larsen's MOM is
Ingeborg Olsdatter born 14 February 1844 in Hosanger

Emma Moen's dad is called Ole Olsen, or can be called Ole Olsen Moen, or can be called Ole O Moen, or can be called Ole Moen.
All of these names are correct for the SAME MAN.
This can be a little confusing for most Americans. You are not the only one. It has to do with the way people were named in Norway in the olden days.
Emma's dad's name is really Ole Olsen. Sometimes people talked about a person like this, "I saw Ole Olsen the other day, you know the Ole I mean? the one who lives on Moen farm." To shorten it up, they sometimes talked about a person like this, "I saw Ole Olsen Moen the other day." They can still call him Ole Olsen, but many times they wanted to make sure it was clear who was meant, so they added the address name (the farm where he lived) - in this case Moen. (Actually the farm was Turmoen, and the name was shortened in America to Moen.)
A little bit the address name is like a nickname. Sometimes a person is called by a nickname. But that doesn't change the person's real name. Emma's dad's real name was Ole Olsen.
In the USA, people didn't add address names to a person's real name. A person had a first name, maybe a middle name, and a last name, always the same names. When Norwegian immigrants came to America, they had to do the same as other Americans (or anyway, they wanted to do the same). So Norwegian immigrants chose ONE last name to stick with. In America, Emma's dad chose to be "Ole Olsen Moen." His last name of Olsen turned into a middle name. The address name of Moen was always used for his name - it was not just something extra that was sometimes added to his name.
