Hi Rachel, I am a journalist and freelance writer living in Nome, Alaska. One of my current projects is writing about the C.S. Holmes, a unique sailing vessel from Seattle that supplied the hospitals, churches, and schools of Arctic villages from 1906 to 1937. I found the name of your grandfather in a correspondence between W.T. Lopp, who was once a reindeer supervisor, and George Ootenna, one of his apprentices. While doing my research, I have also come across the name of you Great-Great-Grandfather Albert Bernhardt. He lived 6 miles away from my wife's home village, a place where I lived and taught for 14 years. I would very much like to chat with you about your amazing relatives.
