I am trying to track down how Iver Iversen Mork from Stryn, Sogn og Fjordane got to America.
I found a record showing he left from Bergen on May 26, 1882. I found this on the Sogn og Fjordane Fylkeskommune Fylkesarkivet. In that record it says the source for the information was a Bergen passenger list. I have been unable to find that list. I was hoping that from that list I could figure out what ship he was on and from that maybe find his port of arrival in America or Canada and the date of arrival. Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is a candidate for you. The original manifest is very difficult to read so the transcriber did the best he could. Looking at the manifest the name could easily be Iver I Mork. Arrival date is about right. The person is going to Wells, Mn as near as I an tell.

Thanks for the link to the Archives and the LDS film. I will check those out. I have looked through Quebec as a lot of other folks of mine came through there, but I haven't been able to find him. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the reply. I'd seen this one before, but I wasn't really sure as right above him were Lasse, Anne, Johanna, Ragnhild, and ? Mork. (can't read the last name). I wondered if Iner J was related to them. I really wanted this to be the right one because Iner J was born c. 1864 which is when my Iver was born.
I just looked at the 1875 census for Stryn and there were several families living at Mork. Lasse Jørgensen was one and Iver Iversen was one. My Iver Iversen is listed as one of the sons of Iver Iversen in the census.
So maybe my Iver just went along with the other family because he knew them even though they were not related to him (as far as I know).
Since the date would be right, his age was right, the ship Polynesian was part of the Allan Line which is what the Bergen records show, and the other family also lived at Mork, I think this must be my Iver.
Interestingly, I hadn't seen him associated with Wells before. He didn't end up there, he ended up in Kiester which is about 17 miles from Wells.

Looking further on this site I see that the ship Polynesian left Liverpool on 1 Jun 1882 bound first for Londonderry and then on to Quebec.
In your experience, would it likely have been the same ship that he took from Bergen to Liverpool?

| Usually not the same ship. A feeder ship was used to transport from Bergen to Liverpool. |
