Yesterday I saw a post dating 2001 on google,'newsarch.rootsweb' I contacted Rootsweb site but they are not related.

The message is incomplete but it has been posted by someone looking for anyone that could be connected to her grandmother Antoinette Katinka Maria Mortensen. I believe her grandmother was my grandfather's sister...Mathias Kristofer Mortensen, left Bergen the same year, different month 1892 from Bergen..leaving behind their sisters Ragna Louise, Karen Marie, and their parents, Mathias Chirstophersen Mortensen, mother Alberthine Gothilde
Knoph- Mortensen...I have a fair amount of information and would love to share it with this grand daughter. Thank you.

What you have come across is an entry which was posted on the Norway-List, a mailing list of RootsWeb. Rootsweb has not been functional for more than a month now but they keep promising that they will turn it back to the free use of the public when they have completed security work. We can only wait to learn if that is true. Most of use actually suspect that the free Rootsweb sites are being wiped out by for-profit Ancestry.
There may have been replies to that message or even help offered by the other regulars of the Norway-List.

I was wondering if this was the case, it seems every thing leads me to RootsWeb and the paying site, their Customer question-response repeated they are not related- thank you for this, I'll need to look elsewhere..like here :-) for this family connection.
