Karl Pedersen, born 1864-03-18 in Tyristrand (Skjærdalen/Hole) in Ringerike, left Oslo 1884-08-15 on the ship Rollo. Given destination was Menomonee, Wisconsin.
On the same ship Ingebret Andreassen, also from Ringerike, travelled with his family. Same destination.

According to an inquiry put on Ancestry.com in 2002 by his grandson, Pete Peterson, Karl died in 1934. I don’t know where.
Does anybody have more information?

That is interesting when two different researchers, working independently, arrive at the same possible person. In truth there are at least a couple of Karl Pedersons in US who answer the basic bio included in the initial post. |

Because of the Dunn county location a possible child Edward with two children neither of whom are named Peter:

Obituary of one of this Edward's children:
Wayne Edward Peterson, age 88, of Menomonie passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie.
He was born Sept. 10, 1921, in the Town of Lucas, Dunn Co., to Edward and Ellis (Birthman) Peterson and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1940.
Wayne married Mary M. Stickney on Feb. 10, 1950, at the Parsonage of the Methodist Church in Menomonie. Together they farmed for 36 years in Dunn Co., then sold the herd of milking cows and young cattle and retired but remained on the farm. They were also longtime members of the United Methodist Church in Menomonie.
Wayne enjoyed fishing and running the farm, and he and Mary enjoyed summer picnics and Sunday get-togethers with family and close relatives.
Wayne will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Mary Peterson of Glenwood City; his three children, Richard Peterson of Spring Valley, Robert (Joanne) Peterson of Milton, Judy Peterson of Glenwood City; three grandchildren, Catherine Peterson, Elizabeth Peterson (Austin) Bergmann and Sarah Peterson. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Donald Hillman of Eau Claire and Norman (Imagene) Stickney; and a good neighbor and best friend, Irv Pax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ellis Peterson; an uncle, Wesley Birthman; and beloved sister, Sarah Hillman.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor Don Gribble officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lucas Cemetery at a later date.

In one of his 1999 posts there is an email address and the info that his mother was Anna Skillingstad

There was one Anne Skillingstad in the 1910 census born in Wisconsin about 1909. Perhaps this is she in 1940. Husband Fred, no child named Peter but young enough to have other children, maybe:

Have you searched the Hole bygdebøker online to see any possible mention? |

I know well the Bygdebøker of Hole. They are very good, but the problem is, Karl was born in Tyristrand on the west side of the Tyrifjord lake. Tyristrand was part of Hole until 1916, and is not included in the Hole Bygdebøker.
I know fairly well what happened to the parents of Karl, and all his brothers and sisters who remained in Tyristrand. In fact, there was also an older sister not mentioned in Pete Petersons query of 2002: Karen, my great-grandmother.
I now need to check out the families suggested. Link to the olsonfuneral.com doesn't work though. Is it the olsonfuneralhome.com?
I was also hoping that some of the others emigrating from Ringerike with the given destination of Menomonie could provide some clues to what happened to members of my family. |

Well, there is a Ringerike Lag and they usually have a genealogist. Perhaps that person could help.

There was a series of, I think, 4 books dealing with Ringerike migrants published in the early 1920s in US titled I think: Udvandring fra Ringerikesbygderne
by O.S. Johnson.
The Norwegian National Library has two (III and IV) of the volumes online. In one of the four volumes they have a list of the Ringerikes Lag members including a mailing address. |

| Thanks for good advice. I will try to get in touch with Ringerike-Drammen Districts Lag. I will also search - once more - through my old photocopies of O. S. Johnson's books. Maybe another look into Martin Ulvestad's books will be a good idea, too. Thank you. |

Debra A. King, age 50, of Menomonie, went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 27, 2004, as the result of a traffic accident in New Mexico.
Debra was born on Jan. 16, 1954, in Moorhead, Minn., to Fred and Ona (Peterson) Dyle. She was raised by her grandparents and attended school in Menomonie. On July 8, 1974, she married Wayne King in Red Wing, Minn., and together they resided in Menomonie for many years. However, for the past six years, Wayne and Debra had spent their winters in Yuma, Ariz.
Debra was a very thoughtful, loving person who enjoyed taking care of people. For 11 years, she took care of Vernetta Behling. She was a loving wife and mother. She was liked by everyone who knew her and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; two daughters and two sons, Tracy King, Stephanie (Kevin) Swenson, Jacob (DeEtta) King and Wayne (Katie) King, all of Menomonie; her mother-in-law, Phyllis King of Arena; two brothers and two sisters, Douglas (Linda) Dyle of Hudson, Penny Ottinger (Dean Neubauer) of Elk Mound, Terry (Marie) Dyle of Arena and Dinah Harshman of Glenwood City; an uncle, LaVerne (Delores) Peterson of Rochester, Minn.; an aunt, Claudia of Denver, Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ona; her grandparents, Fred and Anna Peterson; a brother-in-law, Jerome Ottinger, and an uncle, Don Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Rev. Leonard Wells officiating. Visitation hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wilson Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Cady, St.Croix, County.
