Hi Lynn Peterson - the funeral home was Aubry &Trudeau, 12 St. Charles Street, Corion, Que. Canada. I have now searched on line and they are now called Aubry & Fils (son) - they do not have a website, but a fax number so I will send them a fax requesting any information they might have from 1952. Hopefully we will hear back with some news or none. Thanks - this was a good suggestion on your part.

Sorry for the intrusion but, as usual, I follow your cyber-sleuthing with admiration. Having enjoyed your help in the past and living as I do in the Montreal area, I have already checked with the Norwegian Seamen's Church here in Montreal. Sadly, they have no archives dating back to the time, and the clergyman of the time has long since passed on. Should I find myself within range of Aubry & Trudeau within the next while, I shall stop in and make personal inquiries.
So - in short - I've nothing to contribute (as usual), but I tried.

We were associated with the Anglican Church - however, I think my parents were married in a civil ceremony so will try to follow that up. My sister is following up the Aubry & Fils contact.

Here is a link to some information about a Canadian Merchant Marine database. It says mostly British Columbia but a few from Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. It is not connected to a search engine but is browseable. An exceedingly long shot....

Hello to everyone - progress is slow at this end. The Funeral Home only keeps records for 5 years, so that is not an option. Have not heard from the police as yet. However, I am going to do the DNA test and will sort this out this week. We have not heard from the Canadian Government regarding Elias Olsen and citizenship, but will continue to follow this up.

Hello to all - sorry for the delay in getting back to you. There is no new news regarding Elias Olsen. However, I have submitted a DNA test (last week) so we shall see what comes back. A note for JWIBorg, you mentioned you had a family who had a 'lost' Elias Olsen and I am prepared to pay for their DNA test but not sure how to go about this. I used Family Finder, as you suggested. Hope everyone is well

Hi Audrey,
I have sent you an email with the persons details. Here is what you have to do:

Go back to Family Finder, and order a new kit for this norwegian person. Order the same kit as you ordered for yourself. Select gender = female, and enter her name in the kit box.
Upon checkout, un-select the tick-box "Billing address is same as shipping address". This way, the bill is sent to yourself, and the kit is shipped to Norway. Under Shipping Address, enter her shipping details which I've sent you in the mail.
