https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/5855/29862/51 line 36 (Laurits). What does it say in the column where you see the date 1882?

Thanks

Oooo...that's not good! I can't find much about him after this confirmation record. If convicted, would he be sent to prison and are there prison records I could search?

His confirmation was in 1874 and this entry was for 1882, so he should be in the 1875 census, but I haven't found him yet. He is not with his family and he would have been 16 years old (Lauritz Halvorsen, b. 4 Nov 1859 in Ullensaker).

Where does Halvorsen come from? His father is listed as Christoffer Larsen in the record...

And this 1875 entry, too:

Well, maybe I found the wrong confirmation record. Here is his birth record: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/562/3820/142 for Lauritz Halvorsen.

I saw Laurits in the confirmation record with the same birth date, but didn't realize the parents names were listed. I thought maybe they were "witnesses" to the confirmation.

It's possible then that he dies as a kid. 1865 is the last record I can find of him: https://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1865&knr=0235&kenr=001&bnr=0634&lnr=00

Okay Lauritz Kristoffersen and Lauritz Halvorsen have the same birthdate, as consequence they would likely be in the same confirmation class.

The Laurits under indictment for fornication in 1882 is on the same page as your Laurits' birth record. Your Laurits is #249. The other guy is #236. Born on the same day!

So no need to look for criminal records (yet)...

According to the birth (baptism!) record and the 1865 census, the parents were Halvor Thorersen and Sørine Larsdatter, living on the Kopperud farm. According to familysearch, they were married in 1856 and had children for baptism in Ullensaker at least until 1870. In 1875, however, a pair with matching names Halvor Thorersen and Sørine Larsdatter, had a daughter baptized in Vestre Aker. (Oslo) Could be different people, but then I looked for the pair in the bygdebok for Ullensaker: Halvor is briefly mentioned; the book says that the two brothers Hans and Halvor Thorersen owned two subfarms called Østli under Kopperud in the 1860ies. So apparently the authors have found no trace of these people at the farm after this decade. So perhaps they had moved from Ullensaker by the time that Lauritz had reached the confirmation age. If so, they ought to appear in the register for the out-migrated in the parish book. I have tried to look through it, without seeing any matches, but perhaps someone with better trained eyes will do better? And if in fact they did relocate in Vestre Aker, one could perhaps look for a confirmation record there?

The rest of the family in the 1875 census:

Lauritz is not there; he may have taken work elsewhere.

ToreL, Thanks! The confirmation link proves Lauritz was still living at least until 1874. Halvor and Hans both eventually emigrated to America (Minnesota) and changed their surname to Ostlie.

From my records, the last child born in Ullensaker was in 1870, then 2 children born in Aker (1872 and 1875), then a child was born in Oslo. One more child was born in 1881 (not sure what town) and I think the family emigrated about 1884.
