I continue to search for the dates of death for my Great-Grandparents without success. Perhaps someone is able to help?
My last clue about them is the 1910 Folketelling for Arendal, residence then was Langsae Kreds 14. Their names are Hans Hansen Hjelseth, born 22.12.1841 in Molde, and his wife Ellemine Kristine Hjelseth, born 11.09.1860 in Sogne. A daughter was christened in the Barbu church. I appreciate any assistance with parish records. Thank you. |

Maybe finding the rest of the family might help to find them?

From the 1912-1913 Arendal city directory, both Hans and Elemine are listed living at Hoveheien 14. Langsæ.
The actual deaths and burials in Arendal are available online up through 1938. Have you searched for them there?

| Hedvig Agathe was baptised (as #38) in Barbu Parish in 1899, so that may also be a place to look, although my own quick browsing didn't bring any results. |

| The newspaper Tiden, which was published in Arendal, listed the tax returns for all taxpayers in the Arendal municipality for the year 1922 in portions throughout the months of September and October. By that time Barbu had become a part of Arendal municipality. I searched for the names Hansen and Hjelset/Hjelseth in those issues of the newspaper, and there was no match with in the tax returns with people in your family. Your great grand parents may have died before that, but nobody reading these posts have found any trace of that in the parish books, so I think it is reasonable to speculate that they may have moved. Do you think there is a possibility that they followed their daughters to the new land? |
