I'm new here and I'm not quite sure how to do this. However, my children's great great grandfather was Ingrebret Nervig, born 27 February 1854 in Orkdal, Norway. At some time prior to 1883, he emigrated to Dunn County, Wisconsin, USA, where he met Emma Josefine Olsen; they married and had three children. Ingebret died at some time after his third child was born in 1889. We know this because Emma then married a man named Michael McGowan in 1890. Rumor has it that Ingebret died in a prairie fire; we don't know if that's true or when he died. Looking for anyone having information about Ingebret Nervig.

A search for Nervig at the Dunn county newspaper page of advantage preservation found Engebret's marriage announced:
http://menomonie.advantage-preservation.com/viewer/?k=nervig&i=f&d=01011862-12311965&m=between&ord=k1&fn=dunn_county_news_usa_wisconsin_menomonie_18830414_english_5&df=1&dt=1

Looking just for Ingebret found a couple of deaths one really tragic sawmill accidental death in 1886 for Ingebret Kvande.

Karl Oskar Nervig
in the Wisconsin, Births and Christenings Index, 1801-1928
Name: Karl Oskar Nervig
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 9 May 1883
Birth Place: Cedar Falls, Dunn, Wisconsin
Father: Engebert Nervig

Nervig is a farm in Orkdal parish in Sør-Trøndelag county Norway. There are quite a lot of Ingebrigt"s living in Orkdal so we need to find a last name for him, That would be the one based on his fathers first name.

There is a book entitled "The Emigration from Orkdal to America" by Olav Sjømæling. It mentions one Ingebrigt Nervik/Nervig, unmarried worker, born 1858, who emigrated to Menomonie, Wis. in 1882.

The author(s) explain that the information is collected from various sources, and that the years of birth are not reliable in all of them. Unfortunately, it is not clear from which source the above has been taken.

Emma's baptism, #127. So it looks like the date and year of birth for Ingebrigt, given in the first post, belonged to his wife instead:
