I am attempting to read a section of Bygdebok for Alenfit: "Bygda og Folket i Eldre Tid"...written in nynorsk. I expect to make many requests for help here, while hoping to gain some proficiency. Here is a sentence...I get the general meaning, going to glosbe.com for translations, but am asking speakers of norwegian what you think it says:
"Truleg har dei vore veidefolk og levt av jakt og fiske og fangst, og ferdast i kring utan å vere bufaste."
Any help is appreciated. I have 32 pages of this to translate to english. I have several years of german study, would feel very accomplished to be able to read norwegian.

Hi

"They have probably been people living from what they could gather, hunt and fish and traveling around without a fixed place to live."
