Hello...you have helped on numerous times with my searching. I am trying to find the and immigration/ship that Oline came to American from Norway. I know I had seen the documents but now cannot find them for anything.
Oline Thorsteinsdatter was born April 27, 1857. Died June 4, 1921 in Wisconsin. She was born in Asnes, Hedmark, Norway. Parents were Thorstein Pederson and Elizabet Torrisdatter. I am sure she came to America in 1881.
If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

i looked through your old posts here at NorwayHeritage but did not see any thing much on Oline. Apparently you had searched for her and found her information, mostly you were working on Oline's siblings. As such could this be your Oline?

Åsnes is a part of the Solør region.
"Hof parish was split in two parish´s: Hof and Åsnes in 1848.
A possible candidate for you.
Oline Thorstensdatter age 25 from Hof in Solør em. from Oslo 1881 on ship Angelo, dest. Augusta (Wisc?)"
That is the same as the record found above by Jackie. I looked though the thread but did not see any record on the arrival.
Looking for an arrival did not turn up any good candidates. I then searched for people who left at the same time as Oline. One such is Nils Andersen age 24, and Margit Kittls. also age 25.
I think both of those people are on this ship.

The arrival date fits fairly well with the emigration date of May 20 albeit a little longer than usual.
However the only Oline with a birth date near 1857 on board the ship is this one.

Name: Oline J Austad
Gender: Male
Arrival Age: 25
Birth Date: abt 1856
Departure Place: Liverpool, England
Arrival Date: 11 Jun 1881
Arrival Place: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Ship: Indiana
There were no other passengers on that ship with a name that fit at all well with Oline Thorstensdatter.

Thanks for the help. I am pretty sure the original Oline found on the ship Angelo is the correct person arriving in 1881. I have tried to search but have not found any other documents which is odd. Aususta, Wisconsin is certainly close enough to where she ended up.
However, I did find the "piece" I was looking for in Oline's obituary. She died in 1921. It stated that "Forty-two years ago, through the efforts of Rev. Christopherson (the older) she came to this country and worked at his home. Two years later she was married." He resided in Pigeon, Wisconsin which is about 30 miles from Augusta.
Now, the dates are close but I am not sure accurate. 42 years ago would have been 1879. Two years later would have been 1881 when she was married. But she was married Dec 27, 1882. So...that could lead to her arriving between 1879-1881. I am always leary now about what dates in obituaries.
Anyways, that is where I am now. |

| I do not think the Oline Austad is the right person. The Oline Thorsteinsdatter is closer. But not sure where she disappeared on the ships. |
