My gg-father Claus Johansen arrived Philadelphia on S/S British King, June 3, 1889 from Liverpool. But how did he travel from Copenhagen/Fyn to Liverpool/Hull?
Did the emigrantships from Christiania to Hull sailed from Copenhagen via Christiania (S/S Angelo 1889-05-17?)

I know the information from udvandrerarkivet, and I've found Claus in the passenger list from S/S British King, but I'm searching information on his jurney from Denmark to Liverpool. |

The names of the feeder ships for Indirect emigration from Copenhagen were not recorded.
Are we to assume that your gg-father was the Claus Johansen, aged 42 who was leaving Copenhagen for Chicago, Illinois on or about 5/15/1889? as seen in the DDD Udvandrerdatabasen online.
If the name of the ship was not recorded I cannot imagine where to look.

Thanks to Hopkins, I already knew that Claus had a contract #3667CC, which he showed to the Danish autorities May 15. 1889. I also know that he arrived Philadelphia June 3. 1889 on the S/S British King from Liverpool.
What I would like to know is how he travelled from Fyn/Denmark to Liverpool. |

In 1889, the steamers Cato, Milo and Bravo from Wilson Line left Copenhagen on Thursday afternoons, headed for Hull with passengers, goods and cattle. (One ship every Thursday).
The British King left Liverpool bound for Philadelphia on Wednesdays. Arriving June 3rd, British King must have left Liverpool on May 22nd 1889.
I believe Claus left Copenhagen May 16th at 7pm on the steamer Bravo.
The norwegian feeder ships bound for Hull did not go through Denmark.

Hi Jan. I have searched for info and pictures of the S/S Bravo. The webside https://www.benjidog.co.uk/allen/Ellermans%20Wilson%20Line.html tells that Bravo was built 1947. That means that my Claus did not vent to Hull in 1889 with this ship!
What is the date of the announcement You posted in Your last reply? |

Click on "Ships & Lines" on the top of this page, then find "Wilson Line" and click on it. You will then find a picture of "Bravo" at the top left. |

| There is a link to the ship in my post. It tells it was built 1865 in Glasgow. The announcment I posted is from May 1889. |
