Poul (Pål) Mikkelson Slåttun was born in 1786 in Hoel, Aal in Hallingdal, Norway
In the war in 1813 he got the Dannebrogsorden from the king of Denmark.
His grandsoon Paul Mikkelsen Paulson lived in Portland N.D, and his soon Philip M. Paulson was the last person known who was the owner of this. I do think I have heard that some of them was working in a bank.
I'm looking for decendents of this peoples, they are my relatives since Poul (Pål) Mikkelson Slåttun was my Great-great-great- great grandfather.

Hi,
Philip Merton Paulson's info from Social Security death index at rootsweb:
PAULSON, PHILIP M 02 Oct 1911 12 Aug 1995 83 58240 (Hatton, Traill, ND) (none specified) North Dakota 501-05-0155
At the time the bygdebok for Hol V was published (1975) Philip was listed as unmarried.
His sister Marjorie Theodore Paulson married John P. Lamb and had these children:
Margaret Agnes b 1936
Rosemary Louise b 1936
John Paul b 1939
Julia Fitzgerald b 1940
Angelia Marie b 1942
Philip Michael b 1945
Kathleen Mary b. 1950
If Philip had no children perhaps the medal was passed down to his sister's children or some other branch of the Paulsons which are numerous.

Hi,
A picture of the Paulson's medal was published in HallingenJune 1923, page 116. It's very similar to the one in the earlier illustration but on the arms of the cross are years 1219 on the left, 1808 on the upper and 1617 on the right. In the area that the arms cross is the letter W. Not sure of the significance of the 1219 and 1671.

I am Philip Lamb, my uncle was Philip M Paulson.
My understanding is that my Grandfather gave the medal to his older brother who lived in Minneapolis because he helped put my mother through college. |
