Looking for birth record to get parent's names. Marriage record is 1793 Vestfold, Hof page 83 to Jan Jonsen. Birth record for 1 child is 2 Nov 1799 Vestfold, Hof page 108. Have looked several times but can't identify this person in birth records. I'm not even positive of the first name when I look at the marriage record. Is it possibly a contraction of Kristine? |

The marriage record for Jan Jonsen in Hof Vestfold (page 83) is dated Jan 25 1794 and he married Stiine Andersdatter from Eidsfoss. (They were engaged to be married Oct 25 1793)
Their first child was Andreas, baptized Febr 23 1794, see top record on right page. Cild born in 1799, (Jon or Jan) was their 3rd child.
The family in 1801 - husband Jan Jonsen now called Jan Warme. Since Stine is 26 years in 1801, her birth year should be 1775.

I found a death record for Stine Andersdatter, Eidsfos Oct 12 1843, see #9 1843. Her age was 78 years, this indicates she was born 1765.

Thanks, Einar. I will follow up on these and see what else I can find. I am trying to get parent names if I can.

On page 178 Hof, Vestfold 1746-1781 births, there is an entry for a child born to a father Anders Larsen Mother Karen Jensdatter in 1775 which would be right for Stine based on 1801 census and I do not see the name. What do you make of that? I see no other Stine in 17765 or a few years on either side. I also looked for a birth record from 1764 through 1766 and found none.

The baptism was for their son, no name given, probably forgot to do the entry.

So much for the idea that may have been Stine. Do you have any other ideas on figuring out who her parents may have been - other than finding the birth record?

Some times a confirmation record (at the age of 14-18 years) may be useful. In this case it is not.

Because there is no record or because parents not listed?

I have not found a confirmation record - did you find one at one time, Einar?
