Hans Olsen Ulbergseie born 13.03.1887 in Heidal, Norway, left Norway 25.05.1907 by the ship Oslo towards Boston. He lived in Sør-Fron when he left Norway.
His brother Johannes Olsen born 1884 left Norway one year earlier by the same ship. He listed his destination to Minnesota.
We would like to know more about their lives in America.

Looks like this might be Hans heading to Minneapolis to brother Johannes coming from Sondre Fron Harpefoss?:

There is one Johannes Olson in Minneapolis city directory in 1907, but several pages of John Olson. Johannes boards at 2321 Bloomington Avenue, no occupation listed. This is a different address than listed in the passenger list of "5th St, Minneapolis."

This will take you to theMinneapolis city directory of 1907 (adressebok): This Johannes is on page 1287. The Hans Olson entries are also on this page but it's unlikely that any are your Hans, since the publication was likely prepared the year before that is 1906.

Julius Larsen was not the brother of either Hans' father or mother. I'm trying to find out whether Inger (Julius' wife) was a sister.

Synnoven, in the USA, a marriage record, a death record, or an obituary may include a man's full date of birth (day, month, year) and his parents' names and maybe siblings. We use these details to tell the difference between similar people. Various additional details from Norway can help, such as any relatives who emigrated. That's the reason to post the above birth date for Johannes, parents' names, and siblings. Please add anything more if you can.

Johannes Olson was going to his brother-in-law John Hader or John Hadn in Minneapolis:

A possible for Brit as Mrs. B. Haben in 1905 census:

Apparently the family name is Brandthaven rather than Haben, so this possible is off the board.

Thank you for all information. We are trying to find out wheter Britt and her husband emigrated and perhaps came back to Norway. They are in the US in 1905 and in Norway in 1910 - if they are the same people.

Synnøve what do you know about the brother Knut Olsen b 1871, could he have come to US?
nevermind about that
In the Minneapolis city directories, I wasn't successful searching for John Hader / Hadn or any reasonable spelling, so I tried looking for the address in Johannes' passenger record which was 22-14 2nd street. There were a number of entries in the directories for 2214 N 2nd and 2214 NE 2nd. One of the people listed with that address in 1906 was a Knute Olson and he was also there in 1905 but aged 53 so too old to be the brother Knut...

Have you also looked for a dødsfallprotokol for the parents Ole Andersen and Eldri Olsdatter? Sometimes, a more complete address is given in those records for those survivors living in US. It might help you to know if Johannes and Hans were still thought to be alive at that time and if you are really lucky it might give an address or town or state where they were living.

In the 1910 Norwegian census of Brit and John Lien, for that Brit at least, there was no further information collected about living outside of Norway. I'm not sure that I checked Jon's entry for the expanded information.

Which I did do now and yes he was in Minnesota from 1905-1909:

Year of emigration:
1905
Year of return to Norway:
1909
Occupation in America:
Skogs- og høstningsarb
Residence in Norway before emigration:
S. Fron
Last residence in America:
Minesota

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01036432001995

This John is married with "lien" as part of his name:

Daugther Marie #8
SAH, Sør-Fron prestekontor, H/Ha/Haa/L0004: Parish register (official) no. 4, 1898-1919, p. 28
Quick link: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb10211205100030

And a Martin Hanson also lives at that address in 1906 (2214 N 2nd). He is also there in 1905 but is aged 49 and has lived in US 4 years, so unlikely to be of interest.

John Hanson and Brit Olsdatter 2nd marriage from top of page:

A search for Hans b Norway 13 Mar 1886, 1887, 1888 of any last name in the World War I draft registration cards found only one Hans with that exact birthdate (13 Mar 1887) his name was Hans Fuhr. He came to US in 1891 with his parents Andrew and Christine, so not your guy.

Neither Hans Olson nor Johannes Olson appear in the Vaage or Sor Fron sections of the 1923 or 1925 Gudbrandsdalslaget's membership lists of those years.

No Hans Olson with birthdate 13 Mar 1887 appears in the Social Security Death Index.

The obituary at FAG for John Olsen says he is from Nordreisa Norway which is in Troms, makes him unlikely:
