Solem Family from Northwood, North Dakota
nozzlehead5	I am a secretary/treasurer of a rural cemetery (South Lutheran Cemetery) near Northwood North Dakota. I am interested in finding family belonging to a Halvor and Haldis Solem family. Halvor and Haldis and two of their children were born in Norway. Halvor was born in 1837, and Haldis in 1844 according to 1880 census. Between June 12, 1882 and July 1st, 1882 Halvor and Haldis lost five children to an apparent diphtheria epidemic as the information has been passed down - I can't even imagine a loss like that. I found through the 1880 census that they did have three remaining children, Ole H. (born 1874), Helina (born 1870), Sisilia (born 1868), and may have had other children after this. The children who died are Levor, Carl, Ingeborg, Beata and Aagoht. From the SS records, if I have the right Ole Solem, he apparently died in 1963 and his SS was issued in Wisconsin. His parents are not buried in the cemetery and therefore, they apparently moved out of the area sometime after this tragedy. I'm looking for any surviving family members of this Solem family. Partially out of my own curiosity about how the family faired after they left Northwood, and also I feel dutiful to pass on this information to any descendants. nozzlehead5	Update to Solem Family: I have been in touch with a great grandson, and a great great grandson of Halvor and Haldis and have found ALOT of information about the family. Halvor died in 1886, here in Northwood, and Haldis died in 1905. The Ole I was tracing was the wrong one. The right Ole moved to Overly, ND, along with some of his siblings. I now believe that Halvor and Haldis are buried in the South Cemetery near NOrthwood, but I'm having a hard time proving it, because there were no death records filed, and I haven't found any obituaries. If anyone knows any more information about this family, I would greatly appreciate it.
