SS Norge July 1893 passenger list to New York
ThorI've been told that one of my relatives, one Marie Teigen, booked Passage to America on the SS Norge. I've searched the Ellis Island web site and cannot find her name. Can anyone suggest where I might search to find this passenger manifest? Thank you for any inputs you can make. [:)]Thor
BorgeI don't know of any passenger list online, but Bjørn Davidsen has made an index of Norwegian passengers and crew which is posted online at the digiatalpensjonatet: "Norwegians" sailing with "Norge" June 28 1904 There will be no passenger lists on Ellis Island for the voyage, as the ship never made it there, and the passenger surviving were conveyed on different ships. We have a transcript of an article printed in The Alexandria Post on Thursday 21 July 1904, which gives some information. I should also mention Per Kristian Sebak's book about the disaster, which should be possible to get through your local library or bookshop.
TrondMarie Teigen is listed on Norwegian emigrant records at Digitalarkivet, here. You can also find her at Ellis Island by searching for passenger Beate Ottesen. Marie is listed as no. 330 on the scanned original manifest.
ThorBorge and Trond, thank you very much for the help; I will follow your suggestions Thor
