jwiborgHi, we should have sticked to only one topic, but still: Carpenter Thorvald Roraas (20y) from Grebstad, Chrsand, Norway arrived on Ellid Island on May 01, 1912, with the ship Oscar II, sailing from Christiansand, Vest-Agder (county), Norway on April 20th. As closest relative is mentioned mother Oline Roraas, Grebstad, Chrsand, Norway. (Chrsand=Kristiansand.) He is going to a friend Anders Aursebak (?) in Sheridan, Ill. I found him twice in the emigration records from Kristiansand, he could have changed his mind the first time.... ? :-) March 09th 1912 April 19th 1912 Albert Andreas Andersen Røraas went 7 years earlier, on May 18th 1905 Here is the family in the 1900 census: click here Jan

If anyone find any information on the Roraus aka Røraas family it would be wonderful even the farm as well
Anita, have you looked at the links in the above message???? The link to the 1900-census shows that the family lives on the farm "Røraas". Click on the link above, and you will find everyone who lived on the farm at that year. And you will find the same farm in the 1865 census for the parish/municipality called Søgne in Vest-Agder county. You will find Anders and Alberts father there, and plausibely what is their grandfather, Jens Andersen (widower) born ca. 1803. And for the future, stick to this topic...! [:)] Jan
