OLE OLSEN RUDI & PERNILLE CHRISTIANSDATTER AASORN
jjAm looking for death dates for Ole Olsen Rudi, b. 1799 Sel, Oppland, and his wife, Pernille Christiansdatter Aasorn, b. 13 Oct. 1799 Sel. Also, any information on their son, Jacob Olsen Rudi, I believe b. in 1834. Thank you! jj (Juanita)
jwiborgHi, this must be Pernille Christiansdatter in the 1865-census: click here She is a widow, and lives with her daughter Ragnil Olsdatter, 26 years old on the farm "Rudi, Formohagen, Lille - Lille Eng" in Sel parish, Oppland county. Kristen Hansen (4 years old) is also living there. The census is a bit unclear, but I would guess Kristen is Ragnil's son. There are several Jacob Olsen who fits in the 1865-census, so you will have to do some more investigaiton there..., or did he maybe emmigrate to the US? Ragnild Olsdatter is born on 31.MAY.1840, and christened on 02.AUG.1840 click here The churchbooks shows that Ole Olsen Rudi and Pernille Christensdatter had (atleast) two kids called Jacob Olsen. This one is born on 21.NOV.1829 click here This one is born on 01.MAR.1831 click here I believe the first one died as an infant. jjHi Jan, Thank you ~ Much appreciated! I did learn Kristen Hansen is/was Ragnhild's son, and he died at the age of 12, and Ragnhild came to the USA about 1899. Jacob Olsen is said to have visited the USA. When, I don't know, and he returned to Norway. His brother Christian and sister Maret ( my great grandmother) were all ready here. I can't find anything on Jacob living here, although I received information he came back to the USA when he was 70 years old. (About 1900) Are there records for Ole Olsen Rudi and Pernille's deaths? Jacob and Ingeborg Olsdatter Rudi, b. 1822, are somewhat of a mystery. What does "faddere" mean? Is it family? Again, Many Thanks! jj (Juanita) dqjuani@hotmail.com
BriningHi Faddre are the godparents. Ingeborg married Hans Hansen Bakken Click Here and here they are on the 1875 Census and possibly Hans in 1900 but with no age given it is hard to tell for sure Click Here Carla
BriningHi I just found Jakob in the 1900 census Click Here He is widowed so he was married. Carla

jwiborgHi again, the Ellis Island manifest states that Jacob Rudi, 70y, from Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, arrived in New York on May 25, 1901. click here He came with the ship Island, departure from Kristiania, Akershus, Norway on May 9th. Note: Gudbrandsdalen is a common name for the valley/dale where Sel is situated. He was going to his brother-in-law Jørgen Nilsen in Wisconsin, I think the city reads White Hall... Here is the emmigration record for Oslo: click here And here is Ragnhild Rudi going to White Hall, Wis. in 1889... [:)] click here Did Ragnhild later marry Jørgen Nilsen? Jan
jjHi Jan, Yes, Ragnhild married Jorgen Nelson. From what I understand, and this came from a 2nd or 3rd great grandson of Ragnhild's brother, Christian Olsen Rudi, who went to Wisconsin, Jorgen sent for Ragnhild. She worked for him and later they married. That is all I know, except Ragnhild being named as my Great Grandmother, Maret Olsd. Rudi/ Tenseth, sister in her obituary. (10 Jan. 1919). I suspected Jorgen sent for Jacob, as he was the most likely one to afford the cost. Jacob is not named in Maret's obituary, so I would say, IF he stayed here, he died before Maret. I had been trying to find information on Christian Olsen Rudi, who came here in 1860, because of a known fact he was somehow related to Ole Sylfest or Ole's wife, Pauline Olson.( I posted for information on Ole here). I had found a Christian Olson on the LDS web site, and everything fit together except Christians's place of birth. They have him born in Sweden, as was his wife, Anna Peterson. I have also had information sent to me, by Christian and/or Anna's descendents, and Christian's birth date and birth place are incorrect. To end, Christian and Anna are/were Pauline's parents. If anyone is interested in my ancestors that immigrated to the USA, I am more than willing and glad to share what information I have. Thanks again, Jan. [:)] jj (Juanita) dqjuani@hotmail.com
