MimiSvein, On Ellis Island I found: Ellen Jacobsen age 22 from Avaldando, Norway 1910 on S/S Oskar II Might this be her? I have found the spelling changes from Norway to the USA. Mimi
jwiborgHi Svein, the ship Oscar 2 arrived in New York on the 15th. of November, 1910, sailing from Christiania on November 4th. The manifest are over 29 pages, and contains 678 names, mostly from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The only Jacobsen listed are:
 • Jacobsen, Anna F 17 S Norway, Scand. Fredrikshelf, Norway
 • Jacobsen, Josefine F 22 S Norway, Scand. Trandlgian, Norway
 • Jacobsen, Lina F 21y S Norway, Scand. Bukaues, Norway
 • Jacobsen, Marie F 23 S Norway, Scand. Fredrikshelf, Norway
 • Jacobsen, Milton M 18 S Norway, Scand Fisfedaln, Norway
 • Jacobsen, Thoralf M 20 S Norway, Scand. non immigrant alien
Search by any of those names, and you'll find the ships manifest. Her name could have been left out, or too difficult to interpret. I recommend you to scroll through the pages one by one... [:)] Jan
BorgeHow do you know she was on that ship?

I found Lina in the manifest you showed me.She used tre name --she was christened Eline , when she was in USA (Duluth)she used the name Lena Jacobson. She got a son in Duluth named Lester Edvard Jacobson, he died june 10 2000. I have read the certificate of death to Lena and Lester but can`t find out who is the father to Lester. Can you tell me if there is an arciv where i can find out more abouth this ?? (maybe som of the people who read this can help)? svemat1 Hello Borge ! Reply to your questions nov 3. In accordance to emigrant record for Trondhjem police office Eline purchace a ticket from Christiania to New York nov 4 1910. SS Oskar II was the only ship which left christiania this date. [:)] SVEIN
jwiborgHi Svein, Lina's manifest states that her final destination is friend Albert Knudsen in Minnesota..., could he be the father to Lester....? [:)]
 • LESTER E JACOBSON, b. 18 Mar 1913, d. 10 Jun 2000
 • 55128 Saint Paul Washington MN
 • Social security number (SSN): 470-01-8226
With all this information, it should be possible to find his father. Have you tried to locate the birth certificate? Also, the 1920 and 1930 US censuses could be useful, that is, if Lina lived with the Lester's father.... You could also try to send a mail to Gwen A Sackrison sackrison@angelfire.com. I've read that she is very helpful and does look-ups, retrieves birth certificates etc for Minnesota, just for a few dollar charge... I bet she can help you! [:D] Btw; this Lina Jacobsen is from Buksnes in Vestvågøy, Lofoten, according to the manifest. Jan
BriningHi Svein You could also try sending for his social security application. It should have his fathers name on it. This site Click Here it tells you about the application. At Rootsweb click here they provide a pre printed letter if you click on SS-5 letter in the right hand column next to the name. Carla
svemat1Hi Jan ! Where did you find Lina`s manifest? I`m interested in her friend Albert Knutsen.Where did he come from and where he was born. Can you please give me the manifest adress. Svein [:)]
