SVENDSEN / CHRISTENSDATTER |
Karin Ambrosh | Looking for help from someone familiar with the Aust Agder area: more specific... Austre Moland ...Barboe.
I have the following information about ancestors from the Statsarkivet I Kristiansand:
Parish register for Austre Moland we find
Sitzel, b Jan 12 1824 to OLE SVENDSEN and BIRTE CHRISTENSDTR. BARBOE
Ole b Jul 21 1827
Nils Christian b Jan 20 1831
Ingeborg b Jul 20 1836
Petter b Mar 21 1838
Fredrik b Sep 8 1839
Cathrine b Jan 8 1842
Ommund b Jan 8 1842 d 1842
Ommund b Aug 28 1845
Mai 3 1849 leaving Tromoy to North America, married butcher Ole Svendsen Stoheien and Birthe Kristensdtr with children Ole, Petter, Fredrik, Katrine, Ommund, Ingeborg and son in law Gjeruld Hansen with Sidsel Olsdtr and their child Ole Bertel.
I have been very fortunate that these ancestors landed in, and remained in Manitowoc County Wisconsin all of their lives, and I have gathered a great deal of info on them and their descendants. I have not been so fortunate with finding the ancestors of Ole and Birthe.
Is there someone out there who might be familiar with either the names, or the region who would be willing to give me a good sense of direction, or perhaps knows someone who does research in that area.
I would be eternally greatful.
Thank you

thelebrity | This is the Only possible Birt(h)e Chri(e)stensdtr. living in Austre Moland in the 1801 census. Her farm is situated at Tromøy. She is 2 years old in 1801.

The only Ole Svendsen in austre moland in 1801 lives at the same farm. He is 16 years old, and I think the possibility of these two beeing your couple is fair. If you found the marriage record it would reveal their age, and possibly also their fathers names.

Karin Ambrosh | Dear Helge,
I do not remember sending a response to you, and I apologize for that. It has been a crazy few days here, and I have not had the chance to do any emailing.
Thank you so much for the information. I have come across this same Birte you found, and I do believe she is the one I am looking for. The Ole however, is not a good possibility, as his Wisconsin death records indicate he was 70 at his death in 1866, and his emigration papers say he was 53 when he left Norway in 1849. That would put his birth at about 1795/1796.
I do thank you sincerely for the effort tho. It is really appreciated.
It is my main objective to find a marriage record for these two people, and that will solve this problem for me. Should you ever come across anything, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you again,
Karin |
