Descendents of Hans Christian Pedersen Kure
James E Heg	I am having trouble finding Emmigration information about this man's 1st and 2nd generation desendents. I know the folowing: He was married to Sønni Sorensdatter Opstad on 11 June 1`771 in Rygge, Osfeld, Norway. The family is listed in an 1801 census, living at the Otterstad farm in Rygge. Hans Christian Pederson, head, age 59, 1st marriage, Bonde gaardbeboer M 452 Sønni Sorendtr, wife, age 54, 1st marriage Søren Hansen, age 26 single, Nat. Artillerist Peder Hansen, son, age 23, single, Nat. Soldat Marthe Hansdtr, daughter, age 15 (this is the one I'm after) Even Hansen, son, age 11. Marthe married Kristian Larson (b. 12/6/85) in Rygge. They had the the folowing children: Lars Kristiansen (b. 1808 in Rygge) Sønne Kristiansdtr (b. 1816 in Rygge) Marthin Kristinasen (b. 17/7/1820 in Rygge)) Hans Kristiansen (b. 1826 in Rygge) Now the mystery. Kristian Larson supposedly died in Rygge in 1840. Of the rest, at least Marthe, Marthin and Hans emmigrated to the US. (Wisconsin) Marthe and Marthin appear on the passenger list fror JOHANNA, 1843 as 73. Marthe Skaugen and 74 Martin Skaugen (ages check right on). JOHANNA 1843 checks with family records. I have checked all posted 1843 pass lists for the others - no joy. The JOHANNA list is the first time the name Skaugen appears in my records. They made a good mess of it in Wisconsin. They became Skoven, then Christiansen and finally Wood. I am interested in all of Marthe's children, but especially Hans Kristiansen. he was my GGrandfather's first cousin, his close friend and a great help to him during our Civil War. Borge	Could it be Hans Christensen age 14 traveling on the Emilie in 1840? - listed on the [url="http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_list.asp?jo=538"]passenger list[/url] as # 20 right below the Heg family? He is not traveling with parents, just listed as "servant" - # 17 "S. Christensdatter" age 23 could be the sister "Sønne"
James E Heg	Børge - You are a much, much better researcher than I. The names and ages in the EMILIE list are a perfect match. It helps explain why Hans Evensen (Heg) and Hans Christensen (Wood) were so close. Also, since Khristian Larson died in 1840, we can see Even Hansen taking some pressure off of his sister Marthe. It explains the Christian is Col. Heg's name (from Hans Christian Pederson.). Do you have any clue as to how the name Skaugen got into the mix? Is the parish or county on the East side of OsloFjord named Østfold the same place as Ostfeld? If not where is Rygge? This has been a BIG find for me. Thank you. James E Heg

Borge	My guess is that Marthe or her husband Kristian Larson had relatives on the Skauge(n) farm, and they may have moved there before or after Kristian Larson died. There are 2 Skaugen farms in Rygge in 1865: [url="http://129.177.171.80/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60136&variabel=0&postnr=1132&fulle=true&spraak=n"]Skaugen [/url] and [url="http://129.177.171.80/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60136&variabel=0&postnr=1126&fulle=true&spraak=n"]Skaugen 62a[/url] - I think this is the same as the farm called [url="http://129.177.171.80/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f10130.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=1490&fulle=true&spraak=n"]"Skaug"[/url] in Thunøe, Smaalehnene in the 1801 census, also the Opstad farms are located there.
Brining	Hi James In the [url="http://129.177.171.80/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f60136&variabel=0&postnr=1126&fulle=true&spraak=e"]1865 census[/url] there is a Lars Kristians. living on the Skaugen farm who is the correct age for Marthe and Kristian's son. That would explain why they would have lived there. Carla

James E Heg	There is one missing bit of data. Kristian Larson, born 1785 in Rygge. My register for Hans Christian Pederson Kure has him dying in 1860. THat would have made him 75 years old. No one in my family lived to such a ripe age in those days. To make my story hold together, I had to assume this was a typo. If it can be determined that he died in 1839 or 40, we have created a family jewel. Otherwise is may just be a pipe dream. The register contains many christening dates, so the parish records must contain some death dates. The folowing may be of help.
