Gulbrandsen -CLARISSA -1842
James E HegThere were four in this family. In 1848, when applying for naturalization papers, Niels Gulbranson changed the family name to Bronson. #3 Karin Neilsdtr became Caroline Bronson. The 4th traveler was Gustavus Nielson. He was only 1 year old. I see notes, at #17 and # 30, where children are not listed. Is that the probable reason Gustavus is not listed? He became Gus Bronson and left a fair paper trail behind. James E Heg
BriningHi James You might want to read this Posting about the same family you are looking at. I don't know why Gustavus isn't mentioned. Could he have been born on ship? Carla
BorgeI have checked the copy of the original list, and the child Gustavus is not listed. The reason might be that infants under 1 year old were not counted. At least for Quebec adults were counted as 1, children between 1-14 years as 1/2, and infants under 1 year was free.
