Gulbrandsen -CLARISSA -1842 |
James E Heg | There were four in this family. In 1848, when applying for naturalization papers, Niels Gulbranson changed the family name to Bronson. #3 Karin Neilsdtr became Caroline Bronson.
The 4th traveler was Gustavus Nielson. He was only 1 year old.
I see notes, at #17 and # 30, where children are not listed. Is that the probable reason Gustavus is not listed? He became Gus Bronson and left a fair paper trail behind. James E Heg |
Brining | Hi James You might want to read this Posting about the same family you are looking at.
I don't know why Gustavus isn't mentioned. Could he have been born on ship?

Borge | I have checked the copy of the original list, and the child Gustavus is not listed. The reason might be that infants under 1 year old were not counted. At least for Quebec adults were counted as 1, children between 1-14 years as 1/2, and infants under 1 year was free.
