Looking for Kristine Fleskhus in Trondheim area
Debra	In finding my ancestors, I have lost a young girl-I have no idea where she went at three years of age. My grandmother's sister, Kari Nilsdatter (born in Selbu Norway on March 16, 1859) married Andreas Andersen Fleskhus (born in Verdal, Nord-Trondelag in 1845) in 1885 and they lived in Trondheim. Kristine was born in 1885 also, not sure which month. Kari, her mother, died in 1888 when Kristine was only 3 years old. I have no idea where Kristine ended up living and with who. In the 1900 census Andreas is living with his new wife, Gurine and daughter, Helene (born in 1889) in Trondheim with no mention of little Kristine who would have been just five years old then. I don't think she is with anyone in Grandmother's family as Grandmother and her sisters, Ane, Marit and Sigrid came to America (with no mention of a Kristine with them). Jonas died quite young and Peder was on the Sæter farm in 1900 with his family with no mention of Kristine. I haven't followed Andreas' family yet-not sure if I can as I haven't tried-but that will be the next thing as maybe someone in his family took her in? I don't know the customs back then but I would have thought the father would have taken her--but--MAYBE he isn't the father? I have no reason to think he isn't but who knows? Does anyone have any ideas how to find this little girl? Any help or information would be appreciated. Deb

Debra	I just realized I can't add!! Thanks for pointing that out for me-I guess I have been dealing with so many years and numbers I don't know what I am doing anymore. That changes the way I think about this completely too as I was feeling so sorry for this little five year old and also wondering about her father getting married so fast after the death of Kari--I just wasn't thinking straight! I wonder if this is worth checking further-I will try on my end to see what I can find but I wonder why she would have another surname? Thanks so much for trying--I know this is a hard one to find. Do you know what the practice was back then when a mother died-did the children usually go with the father or which relatives? Deb
thelebrity	It would not have been unusual for a 15 year old girl to have left her parent's home, to find work, if her parents didn't need her to work at home. But she also could have died before 1900, or her father might have had to give her away (maybe to others in the family) when he was living alone, before he remarried.
Debra	I may not find her-I hate hitting a dead end. I have some of those here in America and they really bother me. My curiosity gets going and I have to find them. I have someone in Norway who is helping me and hopefully he will come up with something-otherwise I think I will just have to let her go for a while even though she is one of my priorities right now. I can't find her under any names I think she should have been under. I tried that foster daughter too and can't seem to find anything that seems to go with my family-I did find that last name-just nothing to connect. Thanks for the help though-I knew she would be tough to find (I do feel better that her father waited a little longer to remarry andthat she wasn't just five in 1900!!--my head was sure screwed on wrong for those dates LOL-I went to 1890 rather than 1900 or something?)
