Information about names and distilleries
soyshirlee	I have a Peter Torgareed with sons Hans Halverson and Matt Halverson. Could these be stepsons? They left Norway when the Norwegian Goverment took over distilleries as my story goes. Peter became disgruntled and took his family to America by way of Canada. Can anyone tell me what year that would be?

Torgareed sounds like a farm name (have you read the article on the main page on Norwegian names?) Possibilites torgerud, torgerød, torgunrud. If it was a farm name It is possible that Peter 's full name was Peter Halverson Torgareed and the sons used Halverson. Another possibility is that Peter is the name he used in America and his first name was Halver thus the sons would use the name Halverson. Finding out Peter's patronym would help. Did he use any initials or middle name? That could give a hint. Carla
